Food
Having previously visited this restaurant for breakfast and brunch, we were thoroughly impressed, which led us to bring our group of six for lunch following a dance recital. It certainly did not disappoint.
• Appetizers: We kicked off our meal with a side salad and a cup of the day's special soup—a delightful cream of chicken with vegetables—both of which were excellent choices. • Main Courses: Our selections for the main course included a delightful assortment: ◦ A kid's meal featuring a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with fruit ◦ A Mystic Reuben served with chips ◦ Two Cafe Burgers—one on a croissant with bacon and the other on a plain bun ◦ The Tybee Island Club accompanied by potato salad ◦ Today’s special quiche served with fruit ◦ Two side orders of crab cakes All of our choices were prepared to order, fresh, flavorful, and well-received. The burgers were hand-patted, and the crab cakes were truly the best we've ever tasted.
Before departing, we couldn't resist picking up a few of their “to go” bakery items, including several massive chocolate chip cookies, two red velvet muffins, two blueberry muffins, and more. We ended up sampling these treats before leaving, and they were moist and fresh. It’s worth noting that we didn’t “need” any additional items, as the portions were generous and most of our meals remained unfinished, but they looked too tempting to pass up.
Service
During both visits, we encountered experienced staff who excelled at managing the needs of a large group, multiple tables, greeting customers, and demonstrating impressive knowledge about their menus and offerings. Our cups were consistently filled, and extra napkins, sauces, and other essentials were generously provided. We felt the staff did an excellent job of striking a balance between being attentive and not hovering over us.
Atmosphere
The restaurant is situated in a historic house, resulting in a unique layout. Guests can enjoy outdoor dining under umbrellas or on the porch, creating a truly relaxing ambiance. Yard games are available at no cost, providing entertainment for both the young and the young at heart. Inside, there are tables at standard height for your comfort. A restroom is available; while it may not be the most modern, it is clean and...
Read moreWe found this hidden gem in Daphne, Al. We were pleasantly surprised- my husband had their quiche special(conecuh sausage, green pepper, onions& cheddar cheese) served with your choice of bread. (Banana nut, blueberry, sourdough, wheat, rye, French toast, plain or biscuits) unreal!!!! And came with an assortment of fresh fruit!!!! He said was delicious!!!!! I had the ham, cheese & mushroom omelette and I opted for the blueberry bread, came with grits and fresh fruit. I also had their special watermelon tea (Loved it!!!). We had our choice of eating inside or outside! We opted for inside- was cozy and quaint! Outside was well laid out with plenty of tables w/umbrellas and lots of shade - Also dog friendly!!!! Big plus!!!!! They even had a game area set up so people could participate. This restaurant also has a BYOB feature whereas you can bring your own alcoholic beverage!!!!! We totally loved it and will come back whenever we are near here again!! Food was exceptionally good, service was spot on and the atmosphere was- soooo cute!!!! It’s actually in an older house. Ohhhhhhh I forgot to mention they also have a separate area for ice cream & to go orders with their own area set up greeted by their pirate in waiting!!!!!! Cute, cute!!! Love, love, lived this little place!!!!! Can’t wait...
Read moreI really am not trying to be rude just giving an honest opinion. My fiancé and I tried this place recently because it seemed popular and looked cute. Look, I think this is a popular place because it’s been around for a while but seriously the food is lacking. Best way to describe it is old folks food. And cheap tasting. I’m really surprised at the good reviews, but I’m also not. I just moved here and have tried multiple restaurants based on “good” reviews and the food was meh. I think this is a smaller town and there’s not many options and a lot of these folks haven’t experienced actual restaurant quality food consistently.I got a California club croissant, there was supposed to be guacamole on it, but it was literally just mayo slightly tinted green. The bacon on it wasn’t even bacon I don’t think, but it wasn’t Canadian bacon either I don’t know. Weird tasting. I honestly couldn’t finish it because I really just didn’t enjoy it. My fiancé ordered a tuna melt and of course they used Kraft singles opposed to real cheese. Everything just tasted off, cheap, and like a poor home cook made it. Place could be decent if they hired a more capable chef and modernized the menu. The...
