Uncle's Deli — Restaurant in Darien

Zero stars. I went with my family to the Darien location today at 3:20pm to grab some food (Uncle’s closes at 4pm on Sunday). I have never seen a group of service people so annoyed to have customers. Fist I asked for some roast beef for my 4 year old son and was told that there was no roast beef (even though it was sitting in the case right in front of me). Then I asked for a quesadilla for my 2 year daughter and was told the grill was done for the day. I ordered a salad and was told the only salads available were the ones left in the case (there was only fruit salad and rice pudding). We finally found some food that was still available but then they were “out of napkins”. They were also out of forks but begrudgingly found some in the back. In hopes that I might actually get food that I wanted I asked if their beach location was still open but they didn’t know. Not only was Uncle’s deli out of everything 40 minutes before closing but they were so rude. The older blonde woman was talking about us while we were there because she couldn’t believe we were trying to order food. Just left Uncles Deli, fairly unpleasant experience from the time we went in to order, to the moment we got home and ate our egg sandwiches. When we arrived in to order the woman who helped us was simply rude and seemed aggravated we wanted food at a deli.

We waited outside for it to be done as we were told for about 15 minutes before I calmly went in and asked if I misunderstood, same woman who took our order was unpleasant again and told me to go check for my food at the register. And then the woman at the register was also a bit rude when I asked about the status of my order only to realize it was sitting behind her bagged up on the counter for who knows how long.

Simple BEC sandwiches were dry and cold, and they forgot the cheese on one sandwich.

Was pretty excited to try it out as it looked really nice, was not nice and no longer excited to try it again.

Always wanted to try this place, so decided to go in today. Never again!!! Stay away. I’m surprised they’re in business all these years. Having an entire family successfully in the food business, this place is not worth it. Ordered egg and cheese on a bagel with coffee, $11.89!!!!!!!!! Are they kidding!!’ Bagel was hard and not fresh. Couldn’t find the cheese and the coffee only one type (plain coffee and not good quality, over $4.00 for a large). Village Bagels in Westport is off the charts!!! Everything is fresh and prices are nowhere near this. They charge you a La carte. Separate for everything. They charged me for and egg and cheese sandwich then tacked on the bagel cost.
