Do you enjoy buying and eating your food by the pound? Well look no further than Los Paisanos (losely translates to countrymen). It's not a slight when it's good food being bought by the pound and make no mistake, this place sells good food. As you come in you're greeted by the sight of your future meal, all laid out buffet style behind a glass partition. The staff, who for the most part are very nice, will ask which one of their delicious choices of meats you'll be having and then you'll have to decide what to accompany your protein choice with: rice and beans, mangú, vegetables, huge green leafy salad? All at your disposal. Leave room for one of their delicious flans or Tres leches desserts and go to the drinks section and pick yourself up a banana tropical or a jarritos to wash it all down with trust me, you'll be thanking me as you slip into that food coma after you're done eating. The cons: $16 for a Carne asada plate with TWO pieces of meat?! They love to load up on the rice and give you two pieces of meat that vary in size depending on the person serving you. The prices have gone up since covid which is to be expected but this place in particular seems to have hiked up their prices more than others I frequent. If you want to have a little bit of a distraction while you eat, and you like farm animals make sure to sit outside the restaurant and share your abundance of rice with the many hens and roosters that call the tree on the north side of the restaurant their home. Overall, I really dig this place been coming here since they opened some years back and aside from the Carne asada prices being a bit obscene it's a good place to eat especially when you're famished because the portions...
Read moreFood: Great Spanish classics on rotation every week or so. Their Chicharron is crunchy, perfectly seasoned with pieces of pork on it. Their carne asada is seasoned well and not too salty, with lots of meat. Their serving sizes are very generous and a meat plate with sides can be around $9-13 and can feed one person with a big appetite or 2 with an average appetite. They also have a decent assortment of both American drinks and Spanish favorites (Jupina, cola champagne, etc) as well as some candies, and snacks.
Staff: The staff are very very nice and accommodating. I've gone at different times busy or not they always welcome you and try to make sure you get what you'd want. If you don't know what you'd like if you tell them spicy/sweet, salty/not salty, meat type, etc. They'll use that to pick out something that you'd like. They also offer taste samples upon request so you're not buying a food blindly. Another testament to their good customer service skills is that if you tell them something not only will they remember you but what you like, talked about, etc the next time (told her it was my birthday and she remembered a week later to ask how it went)
All in all an amazing small Spanish place cooking up great food that is a definite must...
Read moreI live in the neighborhood and finally decided to stop in this spot. I was confused because there was no menu but that didn't even matter once I spoke to the young lady behind the counter. She was very helpful after I told her it was my first time. They always have two types of rice, and a chicken, beef or pork dish. They rotate them out when they are done and put out whatever was cooked next. So you know the food is fresh and you can try new and different dishes. I chose the skirt steak because she gave me a sample and it was delicious plus she said they always have the skirt steak so I'm stoked. The portion size was great. And the pricing is good in relation to the value you get. They have two staple soups that are always available as well. When I got the the counter to pay I saw they can make Cuban coffee and all the other lovely espresso based awesomeness. They even have a small market for beverages and snacks and other items that are Latin based. A cute little gem in the middle of cowboy town. A new lunch spot to add to the rotation. I highly recommend a visit if your in my neck...
