Another trip up north and had to stop and get fish & chips on the way home. Cally was our server and she did a wonderful job 👍🏻.
We also received our bread and was pleased to see sustainable forestry initiative with a fully recyclable bag for the bread.
On our way back from up north, we decided to stop and have lunch at Whitey's on M15 in Davison. Have never been there, but heard the food was very good and the decor was interesting. And at one time it was a dairy farm with the blueprints on the wall.
We were greeted immediately as we entered and were seated directly . The decor was very interesting from figureheads from the ships bow and a steering wheel from a ship to etched scenes on glass to stools that had actual legs for legs.😂
Our server Ashley was outstanding! She did not rush us to order and she said several times "take your time". My wife asked her if there is something she might suggest and she replied "Great Lakes Catch" which came with soup and salad bar.
If you enjoy fish the "Great Lakes Catch" is the one to get. A combination of fresh water favorites: tender yellow lake perch fillets, sweet bluegill fillets, and Canadian walleye, lightly pan-fried.
My wife got the Great Lakes Catch🐟which came with soup and salad bar and a side which she picked the Sweet Potato Casserole and I got soup 🍲 and 🥗 salad bar. The meal also came with a freshly baked loaf of bread.
I must say that the New England Clam Chowder 😋 was one of the best I have had. Very creamy with potatoes, corn, onion, bacon and of course clams.
The salad bar was loaded with a variety of items from pasta to a full assortment of veggies and condiments.
There was so much fish, my wife was able to share a small piece of each fish, plus some of the Sweet Potato Casserole.
Again, Ashley was so accommodating and helpful, which we really appreciated.
Whitey's is definitely a come back again for us and will hopefully have Ashley as our server.
There is also a bar and a separate building for take out service. Take out hours are as follows:

Read moreWent to Whitey's Restaurant in Davison, Michigan. I have always been told that this is the best seafood in Michigan, and we have been trying to get out there for awhile now. The large parking lot was almost at capacity, as we pulled up. We were afraid that we should've called ahead for seating. We raced a family of about 12 to the door, but respect for humankind stepped in, and I held the door for them. After they stepped around to wait for the rest of their party, my fiancé was waving me to follow the hostess to our table. We didn't wait 30 seconds!!! We were walked past the salad bar, and I couldn't help but notice it's long. This is deceiving, tho. It's actually 2 of the same setups, side by side. Salad toppings, chocolate pudding, potato and pasta salads and the creamiest coleslaw all sat there, just calling my name. We were seated in the Captains Table section, drink orders taken and given some fresh baked bread, within 3 minutes of walking in the door. The appetizers didn't take long to be brought out. Oysters on the half shell were slurped down, with some cocktail sauce and horseradish. My fiancé couldn't pass up the Gator Bites. Dipped in their honey mustard, they had me realizing I could eat plate after plate of these during a football game. I am a lover of crab cakes, so we decided to try the Crab Bombs, too. So happy we did. Snow crab and blue crab, mixed in some seasonings and rolled in breading. The most simple of ingredients, yet the most flavorful thing I've ever put in my gullet. She had the Seafood Fettuccine, and the scallops melted in your mouth. Myself and my soon to be father in law had the Great Lakes Catch, a selection of fried Bluegill, Lake Perch and Walleye, and a side. I chose hashbrowns with cheese(I usually save this side for WaffleHouse, but they had the option, so I was elated). Whitey's has always been touted as Michigan's best seafood restaurant. I have only sampled this much stuff, but every item we ordered was the best I've ever had. I can't wait to return, and try more. All in all, I'd give this place a 9.3 in...
Read moreMy wife and I have lived in Davison the last 5 years and had been driving past this place. Finally decided to stop in and get take out last month to try and treat ourselves during this quarantine, and boy was I disappointed. We ordered steak medium rare, lobster, and clam strips. Got home and took out the food and the steak is basically a burnt offering. Like it's charred outside, no pink in the middle and dry as the Sahara desert. The lobster was also overcooked to the consistency of rubber. Both the most expensive parts of the meal were basically inedible. I literally fed the lobster to my cat. So naturally I called the place up and complained that the meat was horribly overcooked, the guy says let me get my manager. Sets the phone down and I can barely hear "yeah they're calling about -that- steak".. So they knew it was bad, and they sent it out anyways. The manager gets on the phone and offers to send me a gift card. I agree and give him my address. A month later and I've still yet to receive a gift card. Not that I'd want to eat there again after the experience I had, but it's the principle of the matter. And I know I'm sounding like a total Karen right now, but you all can go to my profile and check my other reviews. I am not one to complain unless it's -REALLY- bad. I leave plenty of positive reviews, when I receive good service. And if I get mediocre service, I typically am not going to complain about it. But this place really struck a nerve with me. I spent $80 on this dinner and only could stomach a few bites. Do with this information what you will, but if I were you, I'd go spend my money at black rock. That place is amazing and knows how to...
