This is a really neat place! I mean next level cool! The murals on the silos connecting with second Street market had always appealed to me, but I had not been until this first trip. Coming in the main entrance, there’s so much to see with art and architecture and places to sit around the side of the building…. They had feather bowling (!!) and cornhole and little vignettes of seating arrangements under beautiful cement pergolas as well as metal shipping containers turned into indoor/outdoor rooms, just so much to see! There was a pretty long line at the door to get to the bar, which is right inside the front entrance. There is only one bar, but they had three registers going and it went pretty quickly. The bartenders were friendly and helpful, not stressed rushed and trying to shove you through the line. They have a great beer selection of local and regional craft beer with wine and cocktails available. It may not be a huge bar with a giant selection of bourbon, for example, but they have the cornerstone things you need and I saw them making a good looking old fashioned. There are four shipping container kitchen storefronts set up inside: a burger joint, a farm-to-table healthy alternative place, a noodle Asian-fusion place, and a very popular local BBQ pop-up/ food truck has a spot in there. The seating inside is really fun because anything goes with mixed types of tables and chairs. I included pictures from inside where we sat upstairs… The plants are absolutely stunning inside the building! Lots of natural light and garage doors opening to the sides make a lot of happy plants and comfortable spots for seating with friends. On this night it was kind of breezy and cool outside, so tons of people were sharing tables, playing games, the community vibe felt really cool. Out back, the whole facility is right next to the train line that goes through downtown Dayton, and I always get a kick out of seeing a train up close. There’s a lot going on in this part of town with new apartments being built and the Second Street Market nearby… you can walk to a lot of stuff like restaurants and bars and the Dragons Stadium… So I’m excited to have the Silos as a really neat spot for the whole community to hang out together. We will definitely be going back and bringing family from out of town...
Read moreFood was pretty good. Decent drink selection. But it was HOT inside. Between the temperature outside and so many people it was borderline unbearable. If they had AC it would have been much more enjoyable. Definitely not looking to come back until it cools off a bit outside.
Edit: not sure how you are “doing pretty good”. Many people besides myself were vocal about how uncomfortably hot it was inside. I understand it’s insanely hot weather right now but you’re out of your mind if you think it was only 77 in that building. Irrelevant how hot the other places are. Maybe take some accountability and acknowledge the problem. Maybe you’re doing the best you can or maybe you’re not. Either way I thought you may like to know your establishment was far from perfect. Imagine replying to all these reviews and being so salty when someone doesn’t praise you. Learn to take some criticism...
Read moreWe did a sort of mini food crawl. I was very surprised at how some food was very highly seasoned, but the flavor was strangely absent. All of the food was cooked wonderfully. The crab rangoon from the Asaian place had very nice flavor. The monster fries from the sandwich place were our favorite thing that we had. I wanted to try the burgers/ sandwiches from here but didn't have room. The tacos were great, but the dipping sauce was unnecessary and strangely had very little flavor, punch, kick, umami, or anything. The Japanese chicken legs were delightfully cooked and had a sauce to them, but I was expecting some heat, some strong flavor,... something, but what i received was a beautifully cooked chicken leg that had an unfortunate lack of distinction of...
