The first visit was good, so we thought we would give them another visit for lunch today. Upon arrival we sat at the bar and were greeted by a nice lady. She asked if we wanted anything to drink. We ordered 2 glasses of their house Cabernet. She looked so confused… maybe she didn’t know what Cabernet is???… but said she had to go get someone else. A man came up a few minutes later and asked for our drink order. He served us two glasses of wine in glasses that had lipstick stains on them. It happens from time to time so no big deal. I cleaned them off with napkins. He then said “you ready to order or no?” We then informed him that we did not even receive menus so no we were not ready to order. He provided menus and said he would be back in a few minutes.
Mean while there were multiple other people working. They were not busy as it was 1:30pm on a Tuesday. So many other staff members walked by us. The other 2 patrons at the bar had ordered food and drinks with the original girl that greeted us. They received their food and our server had still not been back to take our order. Almost 25 minutes had passed and our drinks were low at this point as well, the person that served us at the bar last week walked by and asked if everything was good. This is when we advised him that we wanted to place a food order and that we did not know who our server was or where he went. He began to use a radio to call our server but then walked away as well. Another 10 minutes passed so my husband went to the hostess and requested to speak with the manager. This is when we realize the man that began to hunt our server down was the manager! He was staring at him speaking with the hostess from the kitchen door. Why couldn’t he take our food order?! We finally caught the manager’s attention after he walked in circles and said we would just like to pay for our drinks and leave that we did not want to stay and waste anymore of our time. He gave us our check and luckily we had cash as I felt we would have had to wait longer because he would have walked away as well. He did nothing to rectify the situation… not even an apology. Just gave me change and said have a nice day. We felt ignored and like they did not care.
It wasn’t until we paid and were getting up when the girl that originally greeted us tried to get us to stay to by saying she can take our food order and have it to us in 10 minutes. She apologized for the confusion and said he is a “server” almost like he shouldn’t be behind the bar but she was the one that went and got him for our drinks?!! We declined her offer and explained we were completely frustrated and disappointed over the situation and did not want to stay. Literally the worst service we have ever received. Thanks anyways, but we...
Read moreWe were on our usual Sunday late afternoon search for sustenance heading north on I-95 from Orlando and we decided to exit once we saw the Tanger Outlets. Surely something good would come out of this! What to eat, what to eat, we thought. We found a mexican restaurant and knew that was just the thing!
When we entered Salsa's the interior decor and lighting fixtures were pleasing to the eye! The dining room had a very healthy capacity and lots of conversations all around had the place buzzing, but the openness of the space dispersed the cumulative sound well enough and the decibel level was tolerable, even invigorating to me for the onset of our experience.
There was no wait to be seated and hostess even said "Vamonos," as she began to lead us to our table at the back left corner of the restaurant. She almost excused herself for saying, "Let's go," in Spanish, translating her words for us after she said it, but there was no need! I loved it. Really gave a flavor to the experience before we sat down. I sing a lot of Spanish songs in ceremony almost every weekend for many years now, so it really brought good feelings for me to be authentically welcomed to our meal this way.
I was thoroughly impressed by the menu at Salsa's! So many different items to choose from. I love enchiladas, chimichangas or flautas so much and I tend to resist deviating from those choices. This day I felt inspired to choose something new to me. My companion and I settled on the Mix Fajitas of chicken and steak. I was excited to see the dish arrived steaming from the kitchen to our table!
Our server was pleasant, helpful and patient as we weighed out our options to decide on our meal. She didn't laugh too much from behind the meal ticket she brought to her mouth when I purposely mentioned I'd never tried fajitas before, haha! She has a really sweet demeanor!
We were delivered complimentary tortilla chips and salsa almost immediately after sitting down. I was so happy for this! Those tortilla chips were freshly made and we could tell because they were still warm as we bit into the first ones. We ordered a small side of queso to go along with them. It was a good decision! We even ordered another round of chips and a larger salsa to satisfy our craving to munch in between bites of our fajitas complete with all the fixings.
We so enjoyed our visit to Salsa's. The good energy of the staff was palpable and contagious in the best way. Excellent service. Good tasting, fresh food. Can't wait to stop here again in...
Read moreI don't usually write reviews but I felt I needed to share my experience. I was very excited when I heard that a Salsa's was coming to Daytona. My husband and I live near the outlets and we always drive out to the one in Port Orange. We finally made it over here and were very disappointed. For starters they do not have the same menu that the other Salsa location has, this one is only one page compared to the larger menu offered in Port Orange. I ordered the ACP and was very disappointed when it came out that there was no queso on it. When mentioning it to the waitress she said that I could get a side of queso but she would have to charge me for it. I was confused because the dish normally comes with queso, but said that was fine. When the bill came they charged me $4 for a small small amount of queso that barely got the contents of my dinner covered. Not only did they charge us for that but we asked for an little extra sour cream (please see image) for the rice bowl we ordered as there was none on that either. They charged us $2 for the amount that we were given. I understand that they need to account for what they pay for it but to charge that much, when the entrees are expected to have them in it is absurd. I unfortunately did not take any pictures of how much queso I was given as a side, and the lack of it on my entree as I was not expecting to be writing this review. Overall, we are very disappointed and probably will not be back to this location. This was very saddening for us because we LOVE Salsa's but this experience but a bad taste in our...
