Steve's Famous Diner — Restaurant in Daytona Beach

What a wonderful breakfast today! Stumbled upon this great cafe and were thrilled to have a short wait and fast service even on Father’s Day morning! The server and hostess were so sweet and engaging. Almost immediately we noticed a huge tray of enormous fresh baked muffins!! Oh how good they were! We tried cranberry and almond pistachio but there were other options as well. That would have been enough but the ocean view and the fresh homemade complimentary bread on the table were fantastic! What a gem this place is! The server shared the legacy story behind the restaurant name and we paged through their cookbook. You also cannot miss the tempting fresh chilled pies and baklava in the glass case as you walk in. The coffee was good and servers kept mug full and hot with creamer easily accessible on the table. We had blueberry pancakes that were exceptional— packed with a generous serving of big fresh berries!! The spinach feta omelette was a very nice size. We ordered a to-go meal as well and they were very willing even on a busy holiday to ensure it was gluten free for our family member. We cannot wait to go back and try some of their Greek specialties and chicken parm or stuffed peppers. The baked goods alone have us ready to get back soon. We saw more than one family going home with an extra box full of yummy muffins! If you are anywhere near Ormond beach don’t hesitate to try this reasonable diner with amazing offerings and friendly efficient service. Edited to add: can you choose to move to a new location just because of the local friendly family diner? The locals seem to love it as much as we do! Just pick any dish on the menu and you will be very happy, satisfied, and very full! The soup appetizer is to-die-for … especially the Greek Lemon Chicken Orzo Soup (chicken noodle soup, on steroids! This soup is only prepared on Tuesday though). The BLT is fantastic (honestly used about 10 slices of bacon on my sandwich!), my husband loves the stuffed peppers, I love the liver & onions, their breakfast biscuits and gravy (breakfast served until 2 pm) is magnificent, their pot roast dinner is delicious, the fried chicken dinner was so crispy yet juicy (and was 1/2 chicken!), I don’t know how they did it! Oh, and the baklava is melt-in-your-mouth! We can’t even eat dessert so we take it to-go! We’ve been eating at Steve’s Famous Diner for several years now and we have NEVER been disappointed, either with the food or with the service. Every single person working there is friendly and wants to make your dining experience a great one. They do have their younger school age children there sometimes. They are in the unoccupied part of the restaurant and they are SO well behaved, you’d never even know that they were there. Went to Steves last year during Jeep Beach For dinner try to order the pot roast they were out try to order their turkey dinner. They were out and this was 5 o’clock in the afternoon on Thursday. Fast forward to this year again during Jeep Beach we decided to try to give Steve a try for breakfast We had friends from South Carolina. They’ve always had great service and great food from Steve’s so we decided to try it again. I will never go to this restaurant again horrible second time was just as bad. We were seated immediately, which was awesome. Our drinks ordered our food and went downhill from there. I ordered a short stack of pancakes and a side of bacon my husband ordered omelette and a side of bacon. Our friends ordered steak tips which came out raw and the French toast and she asked for crispy bacon, and it had to be sent back to make it crispy. She came to our table, gave everybody their food, except for me, stating that the kitchen made me chocolate chip pancakes, not regular ones and that by the time she walks back to the kitchen, they should be done.
