Would never even think of returning. Timeline: We arrive and the waitress takes our drink orders within two minutes. Doesn't ask about appetizers. The place is nearly empty. We then wait 5-10 minutes for the drinks to come, and when she gives them to us, she says "I'll be right back." Another 5-10 minutes and she comes back. We order appetizers (streamed oysters and another appetizer) and our meal. Another couple shows up and sits behind us with a different server. Within ten minutes, they have food on their table. Our server has not checked back. Another 5 minutes later, my wife has now had an empty drink for 10 minutes. The waitress comes out — doesn't come to our table — and goes over to talk to some friends of hers (she was at their table talking for five minutes and then gave one of them a hug as they left). She still doesn't come by our table. Still no appetizers. A different server walks by our table and sees us looking around. Asks if we're okay. We tell her we haven't gotten a refill on drinks or our appetizers, and we were at the point we were ready to leave if at least the appetizers weren't ready. She was very apologetic and said she would check, but then our server arrived with a pitcher of Coke (Coke was flat, by the way). I told her the same thing I told the other waitress, that we were ready to leave if at least the appetizers weren't out soon. Rather than an "I'm sorry, I'll check", she says "Okay that's fine", and abruptly stops refilling my wife's drink — spilling a good amount on the floor (explains why the entire restaurant floor was sticky) — asking "Do you still want coke?" We got up and left. Maybe this is a great restaurant when you have a decent server, but as this was our first experience, you couldn't pay...
Read moreFound this place across from the hotel we were staying at and the menu online looked interesting and had a great variety to choose from, so we gave it a go. The place was pretty cute inside and had many large TVs mounted on the walls for football or other sports viewing. The waitress was very pleasant and knowledgeable about the menu. The food took quite a while to come out even though they weren't that busy, but it was very, very tasty once it did. Unfortunately my partner ended up pulling a long hair from his mouth that had been in his pasta dish. The manager promptly took away the food with the hair and brought him a new order as fast as possible. In light of what happened I would still eat there again and I would also recommend it to Friends and family. Mistakes like this sometimes happen in the food service industry and hopefully in the future they will take steps to avoid this taking place again. I thoroughly enjoyed my food and drinks. They had a really great signature drink menu along with a great food menu with lots of great dishes to choose from. If you're in the Daytona area and looking for moderately priced, good place to eat, definitely check out Big Tunas! I will definitely go back next time I'm in Daytona. Gave only 4 stars because of the hair incident, they were playing music obnoxiously loud, turned off football and put The Simpsons on instead and how long it took to get our food in spite of the place being pretty dead as it was almost 9pm on a...
Read moreI'm not one to write a review for a restaurant, but I feel I have to.
This was our first time eating at this restaurant, and we had a great experience. Service was very good. Our waitress got our drinks and appetizer out much quicker than expected. Main courses were brought out almost too quickly, but again this was a pleasant surprise.
I hate when waiters/waitresses bug you every few minutes to see if you need anything. Our waitress came by when my soda was getting low to see if I would like another and then stopped by just a few minutes after we were finished eating to see if we needed anything else or if we were ready for the check. She was visibly nearby attending other customers so I'm sure if we wanted anything, we could get her attention.
The only thing better than the service was the food.
Food was amazing all around! Coco Loco Shrimp to start with was terrific. I don't try a lot of new foods, but everything on the menu sounded delicious, so I took a chance on the shrimp tacos. They were perfect. Loaded with shrimp that tasted fresh, and the sauce had a little bite, but not super spicy. My wife had the seafood pasta and was in heaven.
Menu pricing I felt was spot-on. With everyone else seemingly jacking up their prices and serving mediocre food, Big Tuna's was a pleasant change of pace.
We don't get up to Daytona as often as we would like, but restaurants like this give us a...
