Went here after a day out and about. Our family is vegan including myself, my partner, and my 10yr old daughter.
It was such a conflicting experience. I mentioned almost right away that we were vegan and would love sone help ordering. Both girls behind the counter seemed confused by this. I don’t have any unrealistic expectations that all restaurants should cater to vegans, or that everyone is even going to know exactly what that means, however, I verbally stated that we would love help ordering and it really felt like we were suddenly annoying the staff. There wasn’t anyone sitting in the restaurant when we arrived, there were no other orders being prepared (that I saw) because both girls were standing there ready to make our food, there wasn’t anyone behind us. We came in around 5pm on a Sunday.
I ordered my daughter a smoothie bowl while my partner moved ahead and started building a rice bowl. I felt confident in the ingredients I was selecting for her smoothie bowl but was still uncertain about what options would work for me. I asked about the sauces being vegan because I felt like the right sauce would influence if I chose nachos or a bowl. Both girls were uncertain, but the girl making my partner’s bowl seemed confident that the spicy mayo was vegan, but the other girl was surprised when she heard that. I asked if she had nutrition info or if she could check the ingredients. The girl helping me went to check and confirmed that the spicy Mayo is not vegan. My partner had chosen the wasabi aioli because the girl helping him had said it was vegan, but the girl serving me again seemed to think it wasn’t and didn’t feel confident in that sauce. That made my partner concerned because it was already all over his bowl. No one was willing to go check the ingredients on that sauce, the second girl just said we shouldn’t count on that and suggested the thick, sweet soy sauce. That’s what I settled on for my rice bowl.
I was pleased with the toppings options. Tofu would be nice, but I’m great that there were edamame and sprouts and chickpeas….and microgreens!! The sweet thick soy sauce was good, but I would have loved to try the others. We searched online for any kind of ingredient or allergen info (my daughter also has a peanut allergy) and found nothing.
Our experience was just okay. And I think a few small things could have made it amazing. Access to allergen info would have made a huge difference - online or in person, having access to that info is so amazing for everyone that has an allergy issue. Next improvement is maybe discussing with staff how to be helpful in those moments - I felt like we were bothering the one girl and the other girl was helpful, but...
Read moreIt’s a hit every time! I absolutely love it here. I always thought poké tasted the same pretty much everywhere until I came across Stoked Poké. They truly stand out with their quality, flavorful fresh ingredients, and diverse innovative menu. Personally, I love me the Lowers Bowl with a couple additional toppings (not that it needs it). I highly recommend coming here. If I had to add any constructive feedback from a frequent customer, it would be to please consider offering a student discount. On the many occasions that I’ve gone there, I’ve noticed the popularity amongst local students like myself. For many, a bowl is probably equivalent to their hourly wage. It would be nice to feel supported just as we find it very much worth it to spend our money supporting this local business and what it has to offer. The loyalty program through your app is nice, but it does not make an immediate impact as customers have to spend a lot before...
Read moreI stopped going to this place and then I decided to give it another shot, but it still has the same problem: it’s overpriced for one and how the heck are you going to put raw seafood on top of hot rice nowhere ever have I ever seen poke bowls or sushi prepared with hot rice. Literally after I get my bowl, the seafood starts to cook due to the heat of the rice and it completely ruins the entire dish. Like please make that make sense. How are you going to serve a Poké bowl with raw seafood and pop it on top of a heap of steaming hot rice????
Every other poke place that I’ve been to cooks the rice ahead of time and seasons (Sometimes, the rice doesn’t necessarily have to be seasoned) it and then keeps it in a sealed container or the rice cooker when it’s off so the rice is either slightly cool or chilled.
This is clearly Americans messing up another culture’s food, but can’t bother to...
