We live in Georgia, and when my dad was on the way home from visiting his friend in Daytona, he offered to go by Costco and pick up a dog food brand his friend had been raving about. When we received the bag, we discovered it had been ripped open and taped over by employees, and the food was close to spilling out. This did not exactly seem hygienic, so I called customer service for a refund. Because I could not physically come to the store and return it, they refused to refund my purchase even though I had pictures. This seems odd for a member-based company that prides itself on customer service. We were considering joining Costco as there is one an hour away from our house, but with a customer service policy like this, we don't think it's worth it. Buyers beware in Daytona, and make sure you check your dog food.

This Costco is run like a prison, the warden at the front door glaring people down, return line goes completely unstaffed with the customers waiting unacknowledged. The check out service personnel treat every customer that approaches check out like a criminal. I’m here with my mom and ā€˜Maureen’ was instantly hostile, nasty and aggressive waiting for us to both display our valid cards before either one of us could check out. I’ve been to many Costco’s without being treated so poorly instantaneously. When I had the audacity to tell her she was being rude she called a little man over to explain the policy but it was her horrible attitude I had an issue with. I’ll be shopping elsewhere from now on.

I always enjoy shopping at Costco in Daytona. The store offers an impressive selection of products, and the meat section is particularly noteworthy. The quality and variety of meats available are excellent, making it my go-to place for stocking up. Additionally, their range of household cleaning products is top-notch, helping me keep my home spotless with ease. One thing to keep in mind is that the store gets really busy on Sundays. If you prefer a less crowded shopping experience, I'd recommend visiting on a different day. Despite the weekend rush, the overall experience at Costco in Daytona remains fantastic. Highly recommended for all your shopping needs!

I had heard that Costco is so much better than Sams or BJs so I joined to see for myself. The fact that it is new is nice. Each of these stores have some specific offerings that separate them. Costco was a bit difficult to navigate as some items are not where you would expect them such as bathroom vanities in the food section instead of the home goods. Yard mulch or garden soil in the section with bottled water. But what is very concerning is the separation of the food court and bathrooms from the main shopping by the checkout counters. If you are shopping and need to use the restroom you must abandon your cart and scoot between customers checking out and then come back through the checkout in reverse. The same for if you want to get a bite from the food court. Today my wife brought her sister to join Costco and the service desk is in the area next to the food court. This is the area where you exit after you are done shopping. Why would you have the service desk at the exit instead of the entrance where people need to sign up to get in or to return merchandise? On their way in they saw some coffee that they wanted and put it in their cart not knowing they were not allowed to go back from the service desk to the store to shop. An associate took the coffee and asked my wife to go out the exit and come back in the entrance again and she met her there to put the coffee back in the cart where she could then continue shopping. Does that mean if I use the restroom or get food from the food court I should exit the store and then come back in? It is hard to believe that Costco corporate doesn't have the smarts to design a layout that works after all the stores they have constructed! They check your receipt and purchases at the exit so moving back into the main shopping area to continue shopping should not be such an issue. There are positive things to point out but I believe this confirms that Sam's Club is superior to this Costco store. My wife said that as busy as the store was and with long lines many of the checkout lanes were closed. Her sister was at the service counter 40 minutes to an hour and when she got home she still was on the phone trying to get her membership concluded. Very poor if you ask me!

9/9/24 I have been to Costco several times in the past few months. Their gas pumps are more convenient than Sam's and the price is usually as good as any in the area. My wife likes Costco ice cream and we also get pizza there. The food service is superior to Sam's as you order at a kiosk and they call your number where as Sam's has a single line so you wait to order and they prepare each order before taking the next. Costco is much more efficient. Neither store has a good setup for shoppers with their carts at the tables in the food court. Shoppers push their carts between tables blocking the flow. Bjs does not have a food court. I still do most of my shopping at Sams but I did buy a $1700 television at Costco mainly because they had it in stock.

I still like Sam’s Club best! I just let my BJs membership expire. They were my least used as they are 30 to 45 minutes from my home plus I really hate dealing with coupons! Costco continues to disappoint. Earlier this year I ordered a $1000 laptop to be picked up at the store. From California to Florida it made multiple stops (loading and unloading) before UPS fumbled it around in Daytona. That is another story. When I went to pick it up the laptop box was inside another very large box with no packing. The box was very roughed up and crushed. I took it straight to the service desk for a refund. I have avoided ordering anything after that. I have on several occasions put merchandise back on the shelf rather than wait for the long checkout lines. Don’t go on the weekends as checking out is ridiculous. Also vender reps allowed in the store can be a pain. My current phone and internet service is fine. I don’t need to be approached every time I shop. If I want to be pounced on with a hard sell I’ll just go to a...

I’m sorry to say I agree with the negative reviews regarding how customers are treated at this new Daytona location. We purchased our membership online just before we left for the store. We were allowed in using the emailed barcode and decided to get our physical cards on the way out because the customer service was behind the registers. We began shopping at the TVs and were approached by an overly friendly manager. He looked our cart over as if we were stealing something and we just got there. I was fiddling with my phone and asked him if they had the scan as you shop in their app as they did in another store years ago. Well, I got a grand lecture in why they don’t. It is too expensive for them, he said. Not the app, but shoplifters. Okay I got it I said yea, I’ve heard on the news that self checkouts are prime for people to steal. He said oh yes, here, they watch you like a hawk while self checking out to make sure no one is stealing. Wow. I feel so darn welcome in his store! We continued and around the corner, another manager type just happened to be straightening products in every aisle we went down. He perused our cart and aha he found our secret. We had a little dog in a screened bag. He didn’t make us leave, but it was like a light bulb. He must’ve thought our extra baggage was for stealing until he discovered our secret. Bam, we weren’t being followed for the rest of our shopping. Fast forward to checking out. No way I’m doing self checkout at this place. So then, I got scolded by the cashier for not getting my physical card. Then she hassled me about having ā€œjustā€ a gold membership. I asked her to stop but she was insistent. I said I’ve been an executive member before at a different time and place but she still wouldn’t stop. I had to stomp my foot to get her to stop it. I said i know I can upgrade and I’m not interested. Btw I bought a hot tub at that other time and place and still only got back the difference between gold and executive in cash back. Why would any smart person give 60 for you to hold for a year just to get 60 back. It was very stupid. We got our physical cards and left with no issues. But after we got home and discussed how everything we went there for was not there. We wanted certain things stocked 10 years ago in our previous area that had been stocked for many many years. All of them had changed and were not the good quality that Costco used to be relied on for. I used to trust if I got it at Costco, it was gonna be the best option. Not anymore. So, why not just stay at Sam’s club where the quality is not super, but not that bad, and prices much lower. I tried to cancel membership online, but oh no, you must call to do that. After 25 minutes, twice repeating every personal detail they could think of, a phone transfer, and inputting my credit card number, the cancellation and refund was done. Goodbye Costco. A company as big as you can’t allow an easy cancellation says a lot about the direction you are headed. Not a direction I’m going to...

I belong to all three wholesale clubs Costco, Bj's and Sam's. Each one has there + and - I will mostly talk about Costco.

Costco is a beatiful store, I like the fact once you got your CC you got $90 worth of free food if purchased at Costco if purchased with a digial card. Coscto does have top Teir Gas which is great for me since i have a Turbo and I like to keep my engine clean and the price is great. I'd say some of Coscto prepaired foods were better than the other 2 stores. like lastweek I got the Chili some of the other prepaired foods looked great the quality looks good. I think I will love the free delivery on bottled water Tea etc. The only draw back is you have to spend $35.00. I do have the plus membership from Sams and on Drinks they charge shipping or $8.00 Delivery fee. I'd rather pay the min of $35.00 vs the $8 in shipping and btw I got more product for the money at Costco for bottled drinks.

Now the bad Costco needs to get an app on the phone where I can do my shopping and checkout on the phone rather than going though a registers. the other 2 stores have the app. Compaired to Sams Costco is more expensive by a considerable amount. but less expensive than BJ's but Bj's has stuff you can't find at neither of the others. like Gefftier fish and hebrew national Salami. At the Daytona Store they had only had 4 carts available for the Handicap at the other stores I never had a problem with that. I don't like they don't advertise their Weahouse prices online.

I was looking forward to Costco. I am now disapointed due to no app and no advestisment on wheehouse prices.

I will continue to do my shopping for meats and shrimp and fish and bathroom stuff like body wash at sams, My Hebrew national Salami, geffiler fish, Gyro's at BJ;'s ( when I have to) at Bj's However I will buy gas, order my drinks online and wonder around the store at Costco because bj's has horrible prep food, sams is better than Bk's but and costco looks great. sometimes Costco has good sales.

Of course I will go to publix for Deli and my Coney Island orningal ( with the casing on) hotdogs I also shop at Walmart.

I'm happy about Costco but it's nothing spectacular but it does add the free delivery for drinks, good gas and good prep food. prices on meats and most stuff I use like cleaners and body...
