Granted I ordered through Uber Eats and it took forever so the cold food was likely not their fault, but the insane prices and the fact that I ordered ground beef tacos and was served basically a chopped up burger on tortilla, is absolutely their faults. No seasonings what so ever. I have never eaten a taco anywhere that the meat was not taco seasoned. The salsa was good and the salsa container full, but I would not pay nearly $9 again for less than half a bag of chips and salsa. 1 order of tacos, beans & rice side, chips and salsa, and a soda... $36.00 never again. If I wanted a burger on a tortilla I would have gotten one somewhere else for way less money.
UPDATE - since I cannot reply to the owner... your ground beef may be popular, but it was NOT seasoned. You can clearly see in the picture that it was a huge piece of plain ground beef with not even a hint of salt let alone any actual taco seasoning. Calling your paying patrons liars is not a practice any ethical business owner should practice. Maybe you should consider all of the VALID complaints and get to the bottom of the problem instead of calling all bad reciews lies. There is clearly an actual problem. Perhaps order delivery under another name to an unknown address from your staff and see for yourself what is being served. Just a suggestion, unless you prefer to eventually be out of business for bad food and service. I've looked at other reviews and nearly all of the negative reviews have a reply that insinuates or directly calles the patron a liar, do you honestly think THAT many people are lying and have it out for your business? I personally have never tried your establishment before, but figured all the raves about it for years couldn't be wrong.... tried it and will not be trying it again for quite some time, especially after basically being called a liar. You need to step up and get to the bottom of the issues and revamp. Perhaps these issues are coming from only a couple of people not trained properly and hence the vast majority of your food is grand, but one bad apple seriously does...
Read moreReview update: The owner replied to my review and flat out called me a liar, asking me to "tell facts not made up". They state that their beef is top round which has no bone in it, even though I have a photo of the bone in my review. They also claim that they are short staffed, but I stood there for about 30 minutes waiting and watching, and after having worked in restaurants for years both as a waiter and a cook, I know what hard workers look like. There was zero hustle evident in any person in the restaurant, and the restaurant was also not very busy, maybe medium busy. My original review gave them three stars despite me crunching down on a big bone, but after the owner called me a liar I'm changing it to one star because there's 0% chance I would ever go back or recommend this to anyone. I will actually go out of my way to make sure people stay away.
Not terrible, but nothing special. We came on a Thursday and they have $1.50 tacos, we got 6 pork tacos and 1 steak sope. $4 for the sope which was pretty small, and underwhelming in flavor. If I wanted to fill up on just sope for lunch, I would need at least 3 or 4. Also my first bite of the sope had a big beef bone in it, so that was not a great introduction.
The tacos were odd, they were all about 1/3 full. They're Mexican style (onion, lime and cilantro), but the taco shells were like regular American hard taco shells with too little filling. I'm used to the soft shell Mexican tacos that are slightly smaller and more filling so they look full. I ate three tacos and split the sope with my wife and I could stand another two or three tacos. Not very satisfying. Also, we only got two limes slices for six tacos, not enough in my opinion.
The atmosphere seem nice, but nobody had any hustle in the kitchen or the wait staff, so everything took quite a while. All in all, there was nothing that made me want...
Read moreOrder: Red tamale (pork), green tamale (chicken), and steak taco Price: $8 Pros: Tamales (need I say more?), very affordable, crazy good hot sauce Cons: The steak was just a little dry
Thoughts: I. Love. Tamales.
I was driving back from Orlando and decided to stop and see my brother at college in Daytona Beach for lunch. Originally I picked him up and we drove to a Cuban place a few miles north of this sat down realized that the black bean soup with $17 promptly got up and left. So then we made our way here, and I am super glad we decided to leave the other place and eat here instead. Because. They have. Tamales. I mean honestly that’s really reason enough to go eat here. You have to understand that I’m from Jacksonville, and there are literally zero places in the city to get a good tamale.
Anyway I immediately ordered one of each of their tamales and a steak taco just to try it out. The prices were ridiculously cheap like me and my brother eight for less than $14 and were full when we finish eating, that’s like 7 to 8 dollars to fill up on food that’s really freaking good. I don’t think you can beat that. While all of their food did look really good, and very authentic Mexican, the tamales were really all I cared about and they did not disappoint. That delicious corn maze taste stuffed with wonderful Lee seasoned meat it’s just the best. As for the taco it was good but the meet was just a little dry not too bad just after chewing it for a while it dried out a little faster than I would’ve liked.
While it’s hard to say that I will come back because I am very rarely in that area if I lived there I would eat tamales at this place all the time. So if you live nearby I would highly recommend you swing and get some tamales, and maybe some other stuff too I needed it look really good, but they have tamales so just get tamales. You can...
