Would give this place no star if I could. I visited Wayback Burger on 4/24/23 Daytona Beach location around 8:15pm and was looking forward to eating there for the first time due to the great online reviews but the first impression was so bad I left and decided not to order for my family. There was an older lady with a British accent that worked there that seemed to have an issue with minority patrons. When I entered there was a minority lady there to pick up a door dash order and the British lady would not allow her minor child get a napkin or use the restroom and told her napkins and restroom was for paying customers only, although they were there to pick up an order. The British lady was so abrasive the door dash worker left highly offended by the workers behavior without the order. After the lady left the store the employee went in the cooks area and started talking out loud about the patron that left, very unprofessional. When it was my turn to order, I ordered food for my family that was around 50 dollars a I ordered a Carolina Burger for myself and was told by the same employee they didn't have a burger by that name. When I told her it was on their menu online she repeatedly stated they don't carry it there. She was so cold, abrasive, and unwelcoming I decided to cancel my order and leave. It's such a shame to have an employee like that hired to work with the public. Because of this employee I will not return and went to another restaurant with much better service. If you are a minority don't spend your money at Wayback Burger in Daytona because based off this employees actions you are not...
Read moreI haven't eaten here in quite a while so thought I would pick something up on my way home tonight. Called when I was close enough so it would be hot n fresh when I got there. I was very disappointed when I was told I had to prepay with a credit card. One, I was driving at the time. Two, I have a money clip in my front pocket so would have been difficult to get to it. Three, trying to drive and read a card would be quite dangerous. And four, I was going to pay in cash. The young lady on the phone said, they didnt want people ordering and not picking up the food. Well, is that a problem? In the 32 years I've lived here this is the very first time a restaurant had such a policy. I think if it was a rampant issue all restaurants would require the same. As for me, if you don't trust me to pick up the food I ordered then I don't trust you with my card info. I'm sure there are way more instances of employees stealing customers credit card info than no show pick up orders. Sad, I was really looking forward to trying the "Cheeseee" burger. I ordered from Anthony's pizza a couple doors down from Way Back and they happily took my order and I paid when I picked up. Just as I have many times with them...
Read moreWayback Burgers in the Beville Road Shoppes has opened fairly recently. I wasn't really sure what to expect as I was not familiar with this chain of franchised locations but I was pleasantly surprised and have been back now on several occasions. I now consider this one of my top 3 favorite places to get a great, juicy, never frozen hamburger! My other 2 places are Fuddruckers and Five Guys. Unfortunately there are no Fuddruckers anywhere close to Daytona Beach.
Wayback Burgers follow the example set by Five Guys and Fuddruckers in that they never use frozen hamburger patties AND they serve fresh cut french fries although, like the other 2 establishments mentioned, they use vegetable oil to fry and I miss the days of the best, and tastiest fries were fried in the wonderful and artery hardening lard! Sadly frying in lard or beef tallow fell out of favor and with it the best tasting french fries but fresh cut, double fried potatoes are still miles ahead of the frozen stuff most burger joints push on us. Usually they pretty much taste like the cardboard boxes...
