I was a loyal customer at Anana’s on Ford and Beech Daly for probably 10+ years at this point spending hundreds of dollars every few months with them. After multiple instances of “iffy” service from them throughout the years, I always gave them a pass and continued to place orders, sometimes multiple times a month or even week. This last incident with the young guy taking my cash then proceeding to tell me “I don’t even work here” with a cocky smirk on his face and shady body language as he changed into a hooded sweatshirt behind the counter totally threw me off. I’m like ok so who exactly did I just give my money to if you don’t work here? Don’t even get me started about them not wanting to make avocado shakes for me throughout the years either. Maybe 7 or 8 years ago I asked why they couldn’t make it for me if they had avocados in plain sight from where I stood. Another customer engaged in the conversation speaking in Arabic with the man working behind the counter in which he claimed that the man behind the counter didn’t want to make it for me because of my ethnicity. Now I don’t speak Arabic personally. So whether that claim by the fellow customer be true or not, he then said “go wait outside, I’m gonna buy it for you” and sure enough was able to obtain an avocado shake as a man of middle eastern descent. He bought me some food as well. What a kind act to try and make up for such a despicable situation, As a fellow customer, at that. You’d think this incident would’ve been my wits end but for some reason I came back. Well not anymore. I’ll go to albasha or anywhere else if I want late night food. Don’t go to Anana’s on ford and beech Daly…...
Read moreMixed review. First time trying this place. Would go again, but with some reservations. $4 chicken shawarma sandwich was delicious -- generous on the garlic and pickles, just the way I like it, and the meat was tender and I liked the way it was seasoned. Concocted my own smoothie ($4.50 for a large was reasonable) and it was delicious. But, the guy behind the counter was pretty surly (smile much?) plus somewhat slow.
After visiting the restroom, it made me leery about the cleanliness of this place. Nonetheless, I opted to order again (I was hungry!!) and got a tabouli salad and frozen lemonade. Price for this round was 9 bucks with tax, so again very reasonable. The staff must have warmed up to us because i even got a smile from the surly guy. It took awhile for the food again, apparently because they were just making the tabouli. The dressing was a good flavor but I think they should have made it ahead of time and let everything marinate, because the bulgur wheat was crunchy and the parsley was a little dry... which would have been remedied if it had been made beforehand. The frozen lemonade was alright but not my favorite: nice and tart, but I think it may have had orange added to it.
After taking note of the bathroom, I did notice that the stainless steel surfaces in the kitchen area were quite printed up so again I question the cleanliness.
Nonetheless, that chicken shawarma sandwich was damn good and for the price, I would definitely go back and give this place another shot. Hopefully they will have avocado and guava back in stock...
Read moreBeen coming here for over 10 yrs. They've stepped up their quality of food and revamped things a bit in the interior design department. Unfortunately, they have terrible parking, being in a very busy part of Dearborn along with sharing a plaza with other busy stores. So things get crazy especially in the afternoon/weekends. Their wait times can be long if you don't call ahwad, so definitely call for any decent sized order. I really didn't want to give a soms what low review, but they've had their fair share of screwing up my orders in the past. However, to much their credit, they do take care of you if you call up to complain. Just a bit of an inconvenience. I feel like they need to step things up much more especially with the major competition they have. Their entire ordering system needs to be thrown out and updated to help assist in the massive demand during busy times. They offer fresh off the grill food that's also halal. If you own a restaurant in Dearborn, you're better make sure you very atleast offer a good portion of your menu in halal option being that this is a heavily middle eastern populated area. Not to make this a very long review, they have great food at the end of the day. Depending on who makes it, the time of days n etc, will vary in what your experience will be like. Just double check your food to make sure it's what you like and all will...
