We recently decided to try Mama Mona Cuisine for breakfast while visiting Dearborn, Michigan, in search of a nice Lebanese spot to start our day. The restaurant caught our attention, and we’re glad we gave it a try. Here’s an in-depth breakdown of our experience:
Ambiance The restaurant is clean and well-maintained, creating a welcoming environment. We visited early on a Sunday morning, so it wasn’t too busy, allowing for a quiet and peaceful meal. The soothing Fayrouz Lebanese music playing in the background added a nostalgic touch, enhancing the authentic vibe of the place.
Service The server was outstanding and made our experience even better. They were friendly, attentive, and very knowledgeable about the menu, answering all our questions with ease. Their professionalism and customer service were top-notch, which is always appreciated.
The Food We ordered a variety of traditional Lebanese breakfast dishes:
Foul maudamas Mosabaha Fatteh Cheese Man’oushi The portion sizes were incredibly generous, which we didn’t realize until the food arrived. Unfortunately, the servings were so large that we couldn’t finish most of the dishes, even though we were a group of four (myself, my wife, and my parents).
Taste
This is where our experience was a bit mixed:
The foul and fatteh were somewhat disappointing. The flavors didn’t meet our expectations for authentic Lebanese cuisine, which was a letdown. The musabaha was decent—not exceptional, but it had a pleasant taste. The standout dish was the cheese man’oushi. It was perfectly prepared, flavorful, and undoubtedly the highlight of our meal. Overall Experience Despite some of the food not fully living up to our expectations, we enjoyed our time at Mama Mona Cuisine. The excellent service, clean environment, and nostalgic ambiance made up for the less-than-perfect taste of a couple of dishes.
I would rate our overall experience 3.5 stars. The food quality could be improved in some areas, but the positives—particularly the atmosphere and service—make it worth visiting. If you’re in the area, it’s definitely worth checking out, especially if you’re a fan of Lebanese breakfast. Just keep in mind the portion sizes, so you don’t end up ordering too much...
Read moreI am writing on behalf of my fiancée and her family regarding an unpleasant experience they had at your establishment. To begin with, I want to clarify that we are not Arab.
When we arrived at the restaurant, we were met by a waitress who had an unwelcoming and dismissive attitude. Instead of greeting us with a simple “Hello” or “How are you?” she curtly said, “You have to wait 30 minutes because you guys don’t have a reservation.” Her tone was rude and lacked basic courtesy.
We patiently waited 45 minutes for a table, only to witness a family of four (who were Arab) being seated at a table that had just been vacated. We were told this was because we were only a party of three, which felt arbitrary and discriminatory.
When we finally got a table, a different server a polite and professional gentleman took our order. My fiancée mentioned the initial waitress’s behavior to him, and he admitted she had been acting inappropriately. However, the same waitress who had been rude to us earlier brought our food to the table. To our shock, she slammed the plates down as though serving animals, not people. Later, when we asked for garlic sauce, she again slammed it on the table in an unnecessarily aggressive manner.
At one point, we even witnessed the male waiter politely ask the same waitress to refill water for the table. Instead of responding professionally, she loudly and rudely snapped, “What do you want me to do?” Her unprofessional behavior was disruptive and highly inappropriate in a customer-facing role.
This entire experience was deeply disappointing and upsetting for my fiancée and her family. The lack of professionalism, courtesy, and respect they received was unacceptable. My fiancée is not the type to complain or leave negative reviews, so I am addressing this on her behalf.
We will not be returning to your restaurant after such treatment. Just because we are not Arab does not mean we should be subjected to inhumane and discriminatory behavior. We hope you will take this feedback seriously and take the necessary steps to ensure that no other customers endure such an experience at your...
Read moreWalked in with a party of six we were immediately seated. We were also the only customers in the restaurant.
I ordered the three-piece almond chicken with rice and lentil soup. The rice was soft and flavour , the chicken was breaded and cooked properly. The dish was good, however, I found that it was a little too rich just by itself. I felt like I needed something to cut through the richness. The lentil soup was as good as it gets. It had the right consistency and texture, and the flavours were spot on. Excellent lentil soup.
I also ordered a side of hummus with meat, it was OK to say the least, the hummus could use more garlic and lemon as it was not the most insane hummus I have had.
Colleague of mine got their burger , I gave it a shot… It was disappointing. The bread used on the burger was hard. Burger is a fail
We also ordered a kibbeh naye plate (Raw meat) was very beautifully presented, it tasted fresh and good, however, it lacked seasoning, a good amount of seasoning. We found our self adding salt to it throughout the session.
Ordered a small plate of sausage links, those were the best thing on the whole table, some of the best sausage links I’ve had. They were tender, they were juicy, and best of yet they were not overly seasoned as they usually are other places. Perfect balance in my opinion.
Another colleague had ordered The barbeque plate, although I did not try it, he had advised me that all the meats were dry, and he was not satisfied with the quality.
Our server Mina was great throughout the whole session, came to our table every few minutes to make sure we were OK , got items requested right away. very friendly demeanour, soft spoken, nice lady.
To finish off, most of the dishes could use some form of restructuring. Would I come back.? No, i...
