My fiance and I took a trip on a Sunday. This has been on my list of cafe's to visit for a few weeks and I am so happy we took a trip. I was born and raised in Los Angeles and moved to Atlanta about a year and a half ago. One of the things I miss about LA are the latin cafes. So, I was super excited to find out they served Latin Coffees. After we ordered, I was able to talk to Victor. He was super sweet and you could tell he is very passionate about coffee. I learned that he was born in the Dominican Republic and he sources his coffee beans from El Salvador. I am Salvadoran, so to hear this made me so excited. I have not been able to find a coffee shop that sources their beans from Central America, so I was thrilled to hear this.
To drink, I ordered the Golden Latte with Almond Milk and my fiance ordered a Mango Shake. To eat, I ordered a vegetable and cheese empanada and my fiance ordered a sampler. I meant to take a photo of our food, but we were so excited I completely forgot. But, they were absolutely delicious.
We are so excited to have found Golden Drops Cafe and cannot wait to return. Definitely a place I will be taking my friends and family when they are in...
Read moreIt was my first time visiting this place. I don't recommend it. The first thing I noticed was a powerful stench in the indoor seating area. Most coffee shops smell like...well, coffee. This one did not; it carried a terrible stench. The second thing I picked up on was the horrendous customer service. Three people were behind the counter, not a single one greeted or acknowledged my presence. They looked at me and walked away, or they carried on with whatever they were doing. Not even a simple, "I will be with you in just a moment." I stood there for possibly 5 minutes before one of three begrudgingly acknowledged me with an annoyed, "Yes?" Needless to say, I wasn't impressed. He rang me up like I had thrown a monkey wrench in his day for simply ordering. The third thing I noticed was the astronomical pricing for subpar menu items. I ordered one Brazilian cheese bread (just a hair larger than a donut hole), and it was almost $5.00 - for just one. It tasted okay, but not worth $5.00 at all.
Anyhow, the experience wasn't the best. Honestly, if their customer service was better, it might even be worth giving them another try - but unfortunately, that was probably...
Read moreI’m giving this place a 1 for the following reasons: There was no heat in the building. 2. I was served undercooked/improperly prepared food. To be refunded (I took my order to-go.) I was advised I had to either return to their location I.e. leave the VA hospital or give them my full card number security code, and home zip to write down versus correct this matter while I was on the phone.
That is a huge security concern for me. Had there been proper protection/security measures in place, I would have given them a 3 based on the Latte. More to come on it later.
The food item I ordered was like a glorified hush puppy but definitely not described as such on the menu so I was surprised when I opened the box. When I bit into it the filling was cold/icy as if it was not cooked to the proper temperature. Which it was not. For these reasons along with only two cup sizes for coffee… I do not recommend and would not return.
The Golden Latte has ginger, allspice, cinnamon… brown sugar. It was good but it does not compensate for the other areas of my experience. Hopefully ownership/leadership will learn from this and others will have...
