I'm a late morning, early afternoon riser. Every time I went to this plaza, I always wondered if this place served a good breakfast. I finally decided to give it a try... The setup isn't very clear. When you walk in the register is closest to the door. So one might think this is where you order. The place to actually put in your order is a little further down at the deli counter, but no one tells you this. You just kinda have to read the signs overhead & figure it out for yourself. There are a bevy of bagels to choose from, but it appears only 3 options on how to have them made (w/salmon & capers, w/an š³, or w/cream cheese). You can't combine or make your own. The guys behind the counter did not acknowledge my presence. They just talked amongst themselves. No one bothered to turn around, explain the selections, or advise if there were any specials other than the menu on the wall. It wasn't until the next person (who just so happened to be in a āæ), came in behind me, that assistance was finally offered. I let him go ahead. Even then, for a minute or so, he was just sitting there looking up waiting to make eye contact for someone to help. It just irked a nerve. WE weren't invisible! A simple HELLOššæ would have been nice. Although it did not hit the spot, the food was actually okay. Had just a little more attention been paid to detail, it could have been somewhat better. The bagel was the ā. It was soft inside & a nice large size. The salmon was meaty & had a good smoky flavor (not fishy at all), but unfortunately it was not thinly sliced. The cream cheese was just caked on there, instead of evenly spread, which made it very difficult to eat. Every bite the toppings slid to either the right or left. Requiring that the whole thing be opened up & re-centered. EVERY BITE! The other turn off is that the coffee was self serve. ESPECIALLY now, I'm not too keen on high touch points. I like to see employees washing their hands š§¼, surfaces being routinely cleansed, & the smell of disinfectant in the air. The half 'n half was literally sitting open in the cooler, to be poured straight from the carton. The cashiers were friendly. The place is actually very spacious towards the back if you decided to dine in. However, that will not be the case for me. This was my first...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI love this place. I come here to meet a good friend of mine every couple of months, and even though there is another location that is closer to me (I live northwest of Atlanta about 30 miles NW) it is still my favorite spot to eat downtown, for several reasons.
Basically, while the Toco Hills location is always a busy area, it's fun , it has a great atmosphere, the people are always professional, friendly, not rushed but very efficient, very service oriented, the food is always fresh, and it could be raining, sunny, cold, hot or whatever outside, inside it's always the same good old Goldbergs. At the risk of sounding cliche or "bougie", this place reminds me of Tom's Place on Seinfeld, with an upgrade.
First of all the food is always perfect and consistent. I used to always order breakfast because I'm a breakfast kind of guy, but lately, I've been exploring their menu more and I just never get let down! On the last visit I had the Goldbergs Quesadilla, not something I would normally order from a deli-style cafe, and yet it was really good (see menu for ingredients). I was not surprised at the taste and quality because everything is always so good and I was just very happy with my order. Even the potato salad was good, and I usually do NOT like deli style potato salad as I make my own and mine is the best (that's right).
Even the coffee is always fresh and tastes like coffee should taste everywhere - hot and freshly made.
I rarely am able to give a place such an all around great review but this place is just great. I always pick up something from the fresh deli to take home.
Location: 5 stars Parking: 5 stars even though the huge parking lot is always packed it doesn't take long to find a spot Service: 5 stars consistently Food: 5 stars consistently Cleanliness: 5 stars also consistently
Whoever owns/manages this place cares about it and it shows....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy husband and I just moved to New York a few months ago, so weāve been trying to find out new bagel place. We ate here a few weeks ago and got it togo; it was okay. Cold and soggy and the portion of food seemed small; my husband ordered back and just got two tiny strips. We chalked it up to getting it togo on a busy day, and figured it would probably be better to eat in person though.
We went there today for dine-in and I was incredibly disappointed. I ordered my eggs over medium and they were completely cooked through, like not even remotely resembling over medium Iām surprised they served it. My bagel was both burnt and seemed stale. I couldnāt even eat it; it was like biting into a rock. You could audibly hear me tapping it and it sounded like I was tapping a rock or something solid. The chicken inside was rubbery and also difficult to eat even after deconstructing the bagel and trying to eat it with a fork and knife. One of the potato latkes was pretty good, but the other was overcooked and partially burnt. I left hungry because all I ate was one potato latke and like 2 attempted bites of the brick bagel I tried to eat. Weād heard so many good things about this place, so very upsetting and disappointing for sure. I wonāt give 1 star because the people were nice and the ambience is too. I have a hard time justifying giving the food anything above a 1 though when part of the order was wrong and I couldnāt even eat the food because the quality. Definitely wouldnāt come back...
