THE WORST THAI FOOD EVER!!!! It’s Americanized and not authentic at all! It use to be back in the day but idk what happened. I use to order food from here often, and I was satisfied with this ordinary Thai food when I’m at work, on Friday march 22nd, I ordered delivery and i understand sometimes delivery lessens the foods taste. I don’t ever usually complain if it’s edible but I was working that day and me and my colleague were hungry, but we spent almost $100 for 4 items and the dishes we ordered were absolutely disgusting. I ordered the lad-na chicken, it tasted like ketchup and the color of the food was off, the noodles were clumped together and the sauce on one side of the bowl, the Thai spring rolls were disgusting, tasted like they were fried in OLD oil and came with unauthentic fake sweet and sour sauce when they promoted a sweet chili sauce, the spicy flat noodles was sweet and not at all spicy, it wasn’t even mild. Each vegetable inside this dish had a different taste as if it were prepared separately with different seasonings, And the roti murtabak was mid. Very mid. Way too oily but it was the only thing that was edible. I called and complained looking for a refund, but the manager wasn’t in and I had left my number with the hostess because she told me the manager would give me a call back. It’s now MONDAY March 22nd and he has yet to call. I called again recently and was told the manager was out. But since I told them I would personally go up to the restaurant myself, he is supposedly on a break will call back at 6pm today. I am waiting for 6pm.

Update. I called back because the manager didn’t want to call me. He was very rude and unprofessional. He did not want to help and said that he didn’t call back because he didn’t want to waste his time and it’s not his fault that I did not like the food. He told me to stop calling and he refuses to give my money back. Then he would not let me talk and then just hung...

Last night I ordered Pad Thai, Veggie Fried Rice, and Panang Curry w/ shrimp. This was a To-go order, about $55. This is my last order with Top Spice.

I used to really like them but I can't keep wasting money here. I like my food spicy, which is something you should be able to get at a Thai restaurant. They ask you 1-8 how hot you want your food, then they proceed to give you something mild regardless of what you actually ordered. I ordered three dishes with 3 different spice leves: 4, 6, 8 (the highest) every dish tasted 3/4 level. At any other Thai place, the top level would be too hot for me, but I ordered it just to be absolutely sure that they have been ignoring the order. Sure enough, they did just as I thought they've been doing the past few times I've placed orders with them. What is the point of asking how spicy I want it if you're just going to serve it however you feel like it?

Aside from my issues with the spice, the Pad Thai is not good like it used to be. It's mushy and the flavor is off. The Panang Curry (my favorite curry) was lacking flavor. The only thing of satisfaction was the Veggie Fried Rice. I do not like my fried rice as spicy as I like my curry and Pad Thai, so the level the gave me was actually correct for that dish. Purely by accident. If I requested higher, surely it would have been ignored just like it was in the other dishes.

After they received my online order, they called me and asked me how hot to make it (even though it was indicated in the online order). I also specifically asked them to make sure I get the correct spice because i know what they have done on several occasions in the past, but that did not help. So we cannot eat here again...giving money to a business that repeatedly and intentionally ignores what I ordered is not something I'm going...

Disregarding the fact that I work near Top Spice at Toco Hills and know most of the staff, I can still say without bias that this is one of the finest Thai restaurants in Atlanta, both in the quality of food served, as well as the service, which is exceptional any time of day or any day of the week.

While there are a couple of items on the menu that don't rock my palate, just about every dish served here is prepared as one would expect from a true Malaysian Thai restaurant, with fresh, quality ingredients and just enough seasoning to keep the dishes focused on the main item. At so many Thai restaurants, a quality piece of fish, chicken or duck can be absolutely buried in an overbearing sauce, and so much seasoning that one forgets the foundation of the dish. Not so here, where the chef knows his stuff and creates dishes that leave customers with a memorable dining experience. My favorite dish is the soft shell crab, which is lightly breaded, delicately fried, and served over rice with vegetables and a light sauce which compliments the crab instead of drowning it.

The pricing is reasonable, especially considering the quality of both food and service. I never tire of this place, and always lok forward to a meal in their, cozy dining room served by their friendly, highly-professional staff.

Side note: If you happen to wander into the restaurant around mid-afternoon on Tuesdays, you will be treated to the most delightful aroma created by several staff members seated in the back and cleaning a table full of fresh basil leaves. (They go through a lot of basil here). That wonderful aroma of basil wafting through the dining room will undoubtedly serve to enhance your...

Random Food Adventure in Atlanta: Thai & Malaysian Cuisine – Not Bad!

Since moving to Atlanta, the hubs and I have been looking for some low-key, good Thai food. We have tried a few places, some more authentic but too far away from Decatur, some closer by, but way too Americanized strip-mall flavor. I saw consistent reviews for Top Spice, but still had my doubts. However, we were pleasantly surprised by the food. The soup that comes with the lunch orders wasn’t great, but everything else was good, with bright balanced flavors and fresh ingredients. Squid salad - we order this medium spicy (4/8 level). The greens were fresh, the squid was poached perfectly so it maintained a fresh snap while also being very soft, and the dressing was tangy and balanced with the chili pepper. Spicy Squid & Basil - SO GOOD!! This reminded me of the more authentic Thai flavors I was spoiled by when I lived in Thailand. That is hard to find here in the US. The balance of the tangy, sweet, and spicy sauce pairs perfectly with rice! Kway Teow Lunch Special - at first this tasted a little bland to me, but once I put the Spicy Squid and the Smokey noodles side by side they became a pretty impressive complement to one another. The smoke on the noodles really makes this dish, and the flavors open up as you eat. All the dishes we ordered had seafood, all of which tasted fresh and well prepared. We will definitely be back!

I am Southeast Asian and I was craving food from home. We ordered char kway teow, beef lad-na , samosas, and paratha with curry. All takeaway made on their website. Char kway teow tasted fairly good, good portion, fresh seafood and had some wok hei taste although everything was mild - not spicy at all. Wished it had some more garlic and sambal on the side. The lab-na was not as flavourful and was one dimensional in taste. It lacked some good coating of sauce and was not worth the price paid. The beef looked like it wasn't cooked with the noodles, just placed on top of the noodles, which was kinda lazy. Had no sear and noodles had no beefy flavour. Samosas were really tiny to be $8 a set. There were 4-5 small pieces. It looks made in-house. Considering that it was only potato filling, I felt like it could've been made bigger for the price. The accompanying curry was tasty. The paratha was alright, I can tell they just made it from frozen stock, and it's not made in-house. The accompanying curry was very mild with 2-3 medium-sized chunks of chicken breast, which were tender. I spent $60+, not including tip for takeout. I wish I can say I would come back, it's a no for me. I tried this spot twice. So I did give it a chance. I'm just disappointed as someone who knows Malaysian and Thai cuisine well.
