Definitely not as a good as they advertise or make it seem. I followed their regime religiously for over 4 months, spending over $500 on their products and services. I never missed a day, did follow-ups and check ins, changed the treatment as necessary and there was really minimal differences. The mandelic serum feels nice, but their acne gel is essentially just benzoyl peroxide. They also just use a basic toner, cleanser, moisturizer so save yourself a couple hundred and just buy it yourself. Mandelic serum was the only this I couldn't find online that seemed similar. In general, it's a bunch of products I'm pretty sure they just buy from a beauty supplier so it's a little middleman-y in my opinion.
I understand that products don't work for everyone and they can't guarantee anything because everyone's different. How ever please know before you start this that a core foundation of their program is just benzoyl peroxide. If you've tried that before and it hasn't worked for you, this probably won't either. Also, hormonal acne, which I had, doesn't normally work with BP. I wish they had diagnosed my hormonal acne and adjusted. When I went to a dermatologist finally, she was surprised I was still trying to use BP to treat hormonal acne, and said it didn't work.
Finally, my major grievance with this company is their NO RETURN POLICY. Anything you buy you cannot return unless you have documented proof it gives you a rash. I couldn't return an untouched, unopened bottle I had that I had bought the week prior. Not even for store credit. That really put a bad taste in my mouth and made it seem even more like this company is just trying to make money off of frustrated, tired people suffering from acne.
I know people like the facials and treatments a lot, and I'm sure they're effective, but for me it didn't seem to be addressing the root cause. I'm not going to pay $125 every couple of months for the rest of my life in response to acne.
I liked working with my esthetician Lexi. She was patient and kind.
Overall, I wouldn't recommend, unless you're ready to spend $1000+ dollars on your acne treatment without any certainty it'll actually help. It's just another shot in the dark from a company that is trying to...
Read moreFor some background, I struggled with acne from my sophomore year of high school. That was 9 years ago. I had severe, cystic acne. Before seeing Teri I tried everything. Every topical ointment, face wash, diet change, supplements, multiple dermatologists, prescription creams. I was only able to reduce the cysts, but the acne still remained. This ultimately led me to what I thought was the only option I had left, Accutane. The Accutane was the only thing that managed to clear my skin temporarily, but the acne came back after a few months, and due to the side affects I refused to go back to it. This left me pretty hopeless and I pretty much accepted I would have acne for the rest of my life.
That was until the Summer of 2017, when after reading all the great reviews, and my acne getting worse again, I decided to give Atlanta Acne Specialists a try. I was very skeptical at this point that anyone or anything could clear my skin. Even dermatologists couldn't clear me up. I cannot say enough good things about Teri. On day one she told me my skin will be clear (which I 100% did not believe) if I followed her regimen. Here I am 6 months later, with clear skin. I still can't believe it when I look in the mirror sometimes. And for the first time in my life, I get compliments on my skin. It works. The results don't happen over night. I had to make some minor lifestyle changes, stick to a strict product regimen 2x/day, and I went in for treatments 2x/month for the first 3 months. I saw results slowly, but consistently over time. After a few months, I woke up one day to realize, I had no active breakouts. 0, no more acne. After 9 years of battling acne, I had clear skin.
Teri deserves so much praise for what she's doing. Anyone who has had severe acne knows how big of an impact it can have on your life. Having clear skin means the world to me. Not only has it gotten clear, but it is much more resilient now. When I do get the occasional break out they are very mild and tend to go away quickly. I encourage anyone who is struggling with acne to go to Atlanta Acne Specialists. I wish I had known about it sooner, and it has been one of the best...
Read moreOkay so after a year of using the products, I really feel like I can give an honest review! I learned a lot about what kind of acne and skin I had/have: non-inflamed comedones, hormonal, and oily with a touch of dryness. I also learned my triggers and changed my lifestyle to what Teri said in the handbook to a T! It really helped me understand my skin and that the products I was using before weren't right for me AT ALL! I love the handbook and the videos that show how to use the products, very helpful!
The starter kit plus a serum didn't work for me either (went to the 10% acne gel with no change) and I knew they didn't because I was applying them correctly and consistently (drove my bf absolutely crazy about my skincare routine lol) and followed the handbook to a T (detergent, makeup, EVERYTHING Teri said not to use/put on/do, I said "yes ma'am!")! I did learn that my skin loves salicylic acid and less products. Once I switched from the starter kit to a cleanser that has SA, a SA exfoliator, a retinoid serum, and vitamin c (I prefer one in a pump), and my skin has been SO HAPPY. I do still use their moisturizer and sunscreen because my skin likes them! AAS does have a SA serum and toner, but the cleanser and exfoliator I use now give me clear skin all the time while needing less products. This is not a dig at AAS at all!! I'm sure their SA serum and toner would work just as well for me, I just never used them.
It's totally okay that the products I initially got didn't 100% work for me. Without AAS, I honestly would still be totally lost and so sad. I REALLY love how absolutely kind and knowledgeable everyone at AAS is! Cristina is amazing and Denise up front is also super kind and even though I never actually met Teri, I can't thank her enough! I absolutely love handbook and will always refer back to it without a doubt because that really made a difference! So even though I use different products now that are exactly what my skin needs, AAS is still highly...
