I'm Mexican. So when I heard Mexican music coming from the cars leaving the place I got excited. They have a huge variety of tequilas to choose from. I see that their menu said California Mexican food so I know what to expect. However, the menu is not Californian Mexican, but much more TexMex. Fajitas, yellow cheese, sour cream. It was disappointing but OK I can pivot, well they don't have chorizo but ground beef. The nachos tasted like pulled pork? As in sweet? Nothing, and I mean nothing was spicy. I do have to say the queso is quite good and the guacamole is made in house well.
As for the tequilas, we asked for a list and instead got a blonde woman who came to ask what we wanted. We asked for a list to see what they had, she said they have blanco, respaldado, And añejo tequilas (as do all Mexican restaurants) and then asked if we wanted to shoot tequila or sip it (I think this is a good question to ask) and then asked how much we wanted to spend. I think my mouth fell open. What a ridiculous question to ask a customer. Instead of giving me options based on flavor she gave us a price range. My friend chose an expensive añejo and my buddy got a blanco and I settled for horchata (I wasn't going to play this game). I told my friend that añejo is delicious with a slice of orange and cinnamon to help bring out flavors. I asked the blonde lady of they have orange. She said yes enthusiastically and I asked if I could get a slice with a little cinnamon (the horchata I ordered had some in it) sprinkled on top. She brought me two slices of dehydrated orange wheels that was 95% white pith, the bitter part you throw away, sprinkled with cinnamon. What the hell did she want me to do with this?
Our primary server, was great and attentive. They/them was quick on bringing out food and asked about restrictions and asked the kitchen for items when requested. They did a great job.
I think this place would stand to have a professional bar manager come in to educate the staff on tequila sales and the menu to be revamped into a cohesive Mexican restaurant. There are so few good places to get Mexican why waste money on another subpar enchilada and...
Read moreGood day Let’s eat sf . happy 5 de Mayo !!!! . I hope my post it’s not taken away by Michael Mayo or others. I feel this is very important. Today 5 de mayo I went to Baja tacos in Deerfield (1310 S federal Hwy in Deerfield 33441 . Party of 1 . I sat down in bar ! they had 2 bar tenders .( A young dark hair lady and older blond one ). I innocently ask about a bodysuit one lady was wearing (where should I buy it ?) then I casually mention (how convenient it was that I bought & got installed that day 🛞 from Amazon & went to shop & installed all paid in Amazon ). Immediately 2 bar tenders started making Assumptions & Telling other clients how i was a Dyke base on casual conversation . They the young bartender proceeded to shout out loud how they were stuck and some making jokes not (needed a man ). Meanwhile I’m having my drinks . my friend called I proceed to have conversations about our kids & how my daughter will be 🏠 at 5 from his dad & boyfriend is chemo conversation. Then they proceeded to sneak to hear conversation while still speaking bad about me with other customers and employees. How some sad people just come out. The young one serve me and said , & your are our 1st customer of the day , it’s noon on a Sunday brunch ! Im on end corner minding my own business ) .how is this allowed in 2024 ? I went out to have fun . Something that lately doesnt happened. I mean who am I affecting while having drinks doing our house errands ? How will this help their customers service . I get it. Some bartenders get their $ showing and pretending to have an amazing time . I’m assuming they needed the chair for a busy day . They make their $ while Showing their goods . But some of us are just parents wanting to have me time or 1 hour just to us . Is that a crime ? Some of us don’t choose to shake our a$h for a $ ; Or tips . We don’t live their...
Read moreDefinitely not the place we remembered. We were seated quickly but weren’t ready to place the full order after she brought us our drinks so we ordered a pizza and she said she would come back. But another person not 30 seconds later aggressively asked us again if we were ready. She was super rude and when we said no she walked away annoyed. We then placed the rest of our order and suddenly we were ignored for about 30 minutes. They brought the sides of the entrees out and then informed us that there were staple items from one of the entrees missing because they just ran out. We then proceeded to wait 45 minutes for the entrees to arrive and again we were ignored. There was no flavor to the food. We all tried to use the hot sauce to give it some flavor but even that was flavorless. We felt that we had no choice but to at least eat the meat portion since we were paying for it. It was just bad all around. They came by and drops a soggy, wet $10 certificate for our next visit. But there’s no way in hell that would dare come back. I honestly would’ve been ok with bad service had the food been as good as it was in the past. Boy are those days gone which is so sad. This was a great place but sadly...
