T'lacoyo has OUTSTANDING food, with a new lousy attitude to go with it. Lately, our takeout orders have been wrong, missing chicken from one order, the wrong order entirely in another case. Recently, half an hour wait times have been the case for pick-ups. In this case, my wife, in line, ordered beans and rice on quesadillas. I suppose that's not common, but it's precisely what we had a taste for. When ordering IN the store, a manager or perhaps the owner was waiting on her when she placed the order. The grill person said, 'You can have vegetables or protein, but we don't put beans and rice on a quesadilla.' My wife pointed out she was standing right there, and would he be so kind as to make that up this one time? Is it exactly what we have a taste for? The grill person said, 'No, we don't do that. You can go somewhere else and get that.' She did walk out. That's the first time anyone at Tlcoyo has been rude on the phone or in person. We did get precisely what we wanted at La Taquiza in Highland Park, where we live. Great food is what it's all about, but that has to be accompanied by good service and a good attitude. Tlcoyo seems to be...
Read moreVery happy to have this new restaurant in downtown Deerfield! Ingredients were very tasty and fresh, restaurant looked extremely clean, easy parking, and service was nice. Prices are fair for a local business with good quality ingredients. We will be return customers.
The setup and menu are like a very upgraded Chipotle. They have taco, burrito, bowl options and then you move down a line and customize with choice of proteins, vegetables, and salsas.
We got bowls - asada, chicken, and barbacoa. All 3 were very good. They had a long list of proteins to choose from, including 2 vegan options, which, as a former vegan, was nice to see. All of the vegetables seemed super fresh. Next time I would order with extra rice. They were generous with all of the servings but rice was comparatively sparse.
The only reasons I didn’t give 5 stars are that the restaurant has limited hours - closes relatively early M-S, and closed on Sundays. Also, the phone wasn’t working when we called during...
Read moreI'm a blue collar worker amongst all of the fine wealthier people who reside in Deerfield and the greater North Shore area, so lunch costs matter a lot to me. I grew up in Chicago which allowed me the privilege of knowing what good Mexican food tastes like and I'll tell you what.. this spot is IT. I got 1 delicious al pastor taco that was packed to the brim with meat and toppings, as well as 1 amazingly thick burrito for $14. Paired with a nice cold Crispy Boy Pilsner from whole foods across the parking lot, this has been one of the most satisfying lunches I have had in a long, long time. I walked in after ordering online and was greeted with an actual smile by the kind lady up front. Its rare you get a smile nowadays and for just that reason alone this restaurant gets a juicy 5 star review. As long as they keep the quality up and the prices down, this is definitely going to be one of my permanent go-to places from now on....
