Golden Chick — Restaurant in Del Rio

This was formerly my favorite chicken place in town. I ordered online and showed up and checked in at the suggested time 25 minutes later. When I arrived there were five people in line. They all ordered and received their food within 10 minutes. My order was still not ready. After a few the shift lead came and told me that It was going to be an additional 6 to 10 minutes as they needed to cook the chicken. Atlanta already inquired before, I was a little upset with this, he offered to cancel the order and give me a refund. I stated I would rather wait for the chicken. Then as I watched the shift lead and the cook in the back they were sniffing the chicken! I watched as he boxed the chicken they were just sniffing and then brought me my order. When I asked why were you sniffing the chicken, The shift leader replied we were checking to see if it was good. I was solely dismayed. I replied to the quality and the safety of the chicken was in question? He stated yes, but we tasted it and we think it's okay, was his reply. He then offered for me to taste test the chicken in my order before giving it to me. I was surprised that the shift leader failed to see the problem with any of this. The GM arrived and agreed with me that this should not have happened. They issued a refund and I left. This WAS My family's favorite chicken in town. Definitely not my best experience smh. Brand new to Del Rio and wanted some chicken and gizzards. Heard of a restaurant called Memes Kitchen but they were too packed. Saw Golden Chick and I’m typically a huge fan. When I got to the speaker I asked the gentleman if they had gizzards. He said they do but they didn’t want to cook any 🤨. Mind you they don’t close for another 4 hrs at this point lol. I said “wow ok,” and he replied with they will cook them but it’ll take THIRTY MINUTES to cook smh. Another note, I’m literally the only customer in the drive through. I told him I couldn’t wait that long, and ordered a 3 piece meal and 2 pieces of fish. I somewhat blame myself for not checking before leaving but I only received a 2 piece while being charged for 3 smh. Y’all have to do better Del Rio Golden Chick...

If I could give less than 1 star I would. Staff looks worn out. Woman serving wasn’t wearing gloves or hairnet and she was touching the inside of the gravy cups as she served The man at the counter had gloves on but touched food after giving out cash with the same gloves. Food was uncovered and there were lots of flies around. Chicken was tough and chicken sandwiches dough was soggy. Dudes with beards and no beard net.
