We eat here regularly. I donât think we will be going back again anytime soon. I have never left a negative review for anyone but thereâs a first time for everything.
We purposely arrived after the lunch crowd should have been gone. However on this day they were still somewhat busy. Our intention was if they were slow then we would get better service.
The previous visit was excellent. There are normally two waitresses working there. One has shorter hair and the other has longer hair. The one with the shorter hair waited on us on our previous visit and she did an amazing job. I wish I knew her name but I donât.
So when we arrived on our last visit, there were several tables available in the rear seating section near the rest rooms.
We were met by the waitress who has the longer hair. She seemed like she was in a big hurry. She was turned around and she was acting like she was ready to run away at the instant we gave her the drink order.
If she wouldâve waited a few seconds longer then she couldâve taken our food order too and saved herself a trip. We knew what we wanted to eat. We usually get the Greek salad. Itâs very good.
As she was running away I asked her to please bring us some lemon to go with our tea and paper napkins. She must have not heard the request or simply ignored it. We didnât get straws either.
I also wanted to order a pizza to go. But I never got the chance to ask for it.
So I noticed that the other waitress with the shorter hair was nearby so I asked her if she could please take our order. She did, however we never received the lemon or napkins.
I had to go to the register and ask for them myself. No biggie. Things happen. I understand.
However within a few minutes of this, the same waitress with the longer hair brought a large tray of silverware and slammed them down on the table right next to us. I mean the silverware tray was slammed on the tableâŚâŚ. Hard with an attitude !!!
By this time there were other open tables,âŚâŚ. but she chose to sit next to us and do her work. She was training a brand new waitress. Then the whole time she was there putting together the silverware wrapping, she was extremely loud and she seemed like she was doing this on purpose just to annoy us.
So my wife finally made a comment about how we get to enjoy our food with the hired help. This went over well âŚ. (Not).
So the waitress with the long hair got up and left. She left the new waitress, (who was training on her very first day), to continue working on wrapping the silverware.
The new waitress in training was very sincere and she tried her hardest to work and keep the noise level down. We sincerely appreciate her consideration. We talked with her about what happened and I think she was just as shocked as we were.
During our visit we had to ask for refills and we ran out of drink. This should not happen but occasionally it does. This time our lunch was not nearly as good as it was before. The food was good but the atmosphere completely sucked.
It was as if we were a burden to them. I can spend my $40 somewhere elseâŚ.. and I will ! Money is not plentiful now since we have retired, and times are hard. Going out to eat is a luxury, and not something that we can afford to do on a regular basis.
So I asked the waitress with the shorter hair about getting a pizza to go. It was a repeat of the same thing that happened before. She too was off in a flash before I had a chance to tell her exactly what I wanted.
We felt rushed big time. We also felt like we were an inconvenience to them, with the exception of the newly hired waitress who was actually very kind and considerate.
It was as if they werenât there to serve the customer. I felt like we were on a NYC subway. Rushed and rude.
So much for taking care of the customer. They brought the to go pizza out to the table because I believe they were trying to rack up their tips and not have it as a âto goâ item.
We usually tip...
Read moreAngelinaâs has the best pizza in DeLand as of March 2025. We used to be big fans of Papa Anthonyâs but theyâve gone from 5 star to 1 star. Angelinaâs is our go to for take-out. We just wonât order delivery because DoorDash stinks. Update 2: I placed a $60 order via DoorDash and the customer support there is terrible. Also Angelinaâs removed the cheesecake from my order BUT they and DoorDash charged me for it. Angelinaâs should use another delivery service. And Angelinaâs forgot to provide red pepper flakes and garlic powder. As for the food: the fried calamari appetizer was woefully inadequate in size â about 1/2 of what it should be. The calamari was otherwise good. Xtra cheese medium pizza was cooked to perfection this time, too. I highly recommend! I suggest people opt for the large calzone vs the small and the ginormous chicken parm entree vs the âlittle bit lessâ if you want to share like we did. Otherwise itâs fine for smaller appetites. The chocolate cannoli cake was a big slice. The spaghetti that came with the chicken parm was over-cooked so I suggest people order that al dente. Update 1: I went back at the ownerâs request and got a medium extra cheese pie. This time I did pickup instead of delivery and I was very surprised to see the restaurant packed late on a Thursday night. Obviously the locals love Angelinaâs! There was a very good vibe in the restaurant and outside dining patio. While waiting I saw a calzone and a slice of chocolate cake come out and both looked divine. I will be coming back to try them! As for my pie, it was much better this time around. We both thought it was extra cheesy! I like my crust cooked a little longer but otherwise it was a tasty pie. Thank you, Angelinaâs!
We both agree, this is not very good pizza. I ordered a medium extra cheese and it was definitely not extra cheese by NJ standards. Plus the dough was mushy. And the sauce was tart. I wonât be ordering pizza from here again. It is the same quality as Mirinos but that place is cheaper. Iâll stick with Papa Anthonyâs. Itâs more expensive but worth it. Or Dobros if I...
Read moreThe service was not good but the food is delicious. Had a older waitress who attitude from the start was annoyed. She was not attentive at all. No one took our order and we waited and waited until another waitress could tell our order had not been taken & approached us. Multiple times the waitress walked by us without checking on us or even awknowledging us. Our drinks were out for the longest time. After we got our yummy food, multiple attemps were made to get her attention (as has been the case the whole time we were there) I finally flagged her down & told her the bill will be separated & preceded to tell her which items on mine. Her attitude was standoffish and made it seem like I had wasted her time telling her that & said âyou can tell them up frontâ. However, she then came back & asked how we were splitting so I told her again. She then grabbed our cards & split it incorrect even after telling her twice & her not even caring when I told her how to split it. So I politely told her I think something is off because my bill was higher than it should be & she approached me as if I was dumb & kept assuring me I was wrong.. so I had to break it down & she then realized it didnât add up. So she said âsorry, they just owe you money thenâ!!!! Can you believe that?! So i said No i want a refund that wasnât even my order & she said they couldnât do that. Thankfully the boy at the counter heard & said he could refund me what was incorrect. He was very sweet & fixed the situation. Service was a one star. Food made it...
