I would like to give 5 stars. I didn't. I expected better. Not the employees fault, rather the owners fault. Not adequately staffed. 2 employees Friday at 5pm. I don't want to hear someone called out, that's no excuse if you staff properly you won't have a problem when someone don't show up. If you can't staff then close the doors. I like to see employees follow sanitation guidelines but when you understaffed your restaurant it leaves them no choice but to not follow safety for food handling procedures, not the employees fault. Same gloves touch meat then vegetable then bread then cheese, they have no time to practice safety or cleanliness. Store tables dirty, work area floor disgusting, no time to clean. JM has good products, but no good if not handled safely. (Sick). If you only have 2 employees on Friday at 5pm, then close your doors before you cause someone to fall ill and clean your dirty store, no one wants to sit in a dirty seat or table. I went to my car and ate, that was not the plan. All I thought when eating is I better not get food poisoning from cross contamination. Fortunately, I did not get sick. The employees were working hard and trying but that's not enough! I don't even blame management, I blame the owner of this store. I know better, this was not quality and if you're charging 20 bucks for a couple of sub sandwiches it better be quality.. ALL THE WAY! I've read the other reviews posted, you're not taking this serious because the poor reviews keep coming. If your going to pay the bottom of the barrel and charge ridiculous prices you can afford to have the restaurant staffed adequately, following procedures and a clean environment. DO BETTER! 1st and last visit to JM's Deland. Your bottom line appears to be the $, it's mine as well..💲
For me, I use to eat out 4 to 5 times a week. With inflation it's once or twice a month. It's not that I can't afford to, I'm not going to, it's the lack of.... and business wanting more. Many restaurants are failing "in this day and age". I put the slow roll on now. Run your business as you like, you do you. No need to reply JM, actions speak...
Read moreThis is by far the worst place to go and order food. I don't understand why you have 9 orders coming in and you think it's effective to cut all the bread for all the orders. Then when I was watching to see what you would do after, you softly pressed each bread with your hands like you were counting them or something. Seriously. You focus on one order at a time and completed, it took me like a month working in a kitchen to figure this out. The employees are terrible and just walk around aimlessly and don't focus on orders. They want to just let one person do all the work while the others just bull. I've seen it many times and I've canceled 5 orders all from there because the wait times are just outrageous because the employees basically don't know how to work effectively. Yes it affects my money when they don't work good and just bull around.
Update. They have not improved at all. If I could put a worse rating I would. Still the worst resuartelant in DeLand for wait times. Had my order sitting there and they didn't even bother to check it so it was finished for 30 minutes. Get your workers in line. Especially the really tall girl. She has an attitude. Just make my sandwich and put the chips in the bag. No one...
Read moreThe food here is great, that’s not the issue. I used to come in here a lot since it’s conveniently located for me, but the staff are something else. They’re constantly talking to each other or on their cell phones - to the extent that I can’t even ask for something on my sandwich as they’re making it…because I can’t get a word in as they’re chumming it up. It’s just bizarre. Store is always dirty too. The employee who rang me up this last time just stood there for - seriously - probably about 60 seconds texting. I honestly wanted to see how long she would hold out before actually waiting on a customer. When I started to feel awkward I finally said, “I haven’t paid yet,” prompting her to act. She did not even look up from her phone, keyed something in, and said nothing. I only knew to pay because the card machine lit up. I paid. She never said a word, never handed me a receipt, nothing. I had to ask for the cup for the fountain drink I ordered - while she was still texting, never even looked up again. It was honestly laughable that she was that engrossed in her phone, but this has happened so many times now with this same employee that it’s started to wear on me. I avoid the place now because it just feels...
