So I have been a long time customer since they have opened and would on occasion go there b.c there close proximity to my home, even though they do not have alcohol to sell. Their food would be hit and miss at times . But tonight was the LAST TIME I would ever go there! I had a terrible long day of work a d came in with my daughter and girlfriend. I told our waitress I was in the mood for a good steak and she recommended the prime rib. When it came out it did not look at all good but I tried it and it was extremely bland and had my g.f try it and she said "what can you expect from a diner." I explained usually the food is better. My waitress apologized for it and said try the stuffed flounder with crab. I agreed. When it came out it looked ok but it was basically most filler and was I took 3 bites and couldn't do anymore even though I was starving. The waitress felt bad I had a bad long day at work then 2 bad meals but explained it was not at all her fault but asked if they had new cooks etc which she replied yes. She notified the owners wife of my dissatisfaction of tonight's both meals and she came over to my table and instead of listening went on the offense that there prime rib is sold alot and the best around and that they sell a ton of the stuffed flounder with NO complaints and blamed me saying it was me not there food! She said she would took a few dollars off the bill which I didnt believe how I was spoken to and just told her to leave. I paid the bill IN FULL and we left with no apologies or anything! Read moreI called and asked for delivery as I have over 10 times before, I ordered from their menu over the phone. At no point did I say pick up, I then put in a 10 dollar tip, the lady said I was breaking up multiple times throughout the order. It was 58$, I waited an hr and called. After asking where the food was I was told they never brought it out for delivery, then they stated it was done 30 min ago and it was just sitting there. I said ok that’s fine, I would just like to cancel it then as it was cold. They had assumed I put it for pick up. I had assumed, as they asked for my name in the beginning and I had ordered delivery every time that it for delivery. We both assumed and were both wrong. Fair enough, but the food was then cold and I hate cold food. So I wanted to cancel the order and didn’t want them delivering it as it was still there and had not moved. The employee then proceeded to argue with me and state that it was completely my fault and I shouldn’t get a refund. She gave the phone to her manager who then proceeded to argue with me and state I shouldn’t get a refund it was my fault. I asked why wouldn’t they call or notify me food sat there for 30 minutes, or wander to themselves why I would tip them if I was going to pick it up. I thought they were cool. Read moreIf you want to spend money during Covid then go to Grottos. Since we bought our place in 2020 we have tried to order from local either Friday or Saturday. Since we bought our place we had issue after issue after Captains pizza. Tonight was the final time. We tried calling 46 times. If I could attach a screen shot of my phone log I would. I was placed on hold 5 times, each time the call was disconnected. Even after all of this I still placed an order.
Get home to find one item completely missing and an order of buffalo wings was something other then that.
I call to advise them of such and I was placed on hold and then hung up on AGAIN! After finally getting someone, I was told that it’s the phones fault and the wings were hot and they make their own sauce... I get it, but hot sauce is hot sauce and is not smelling and tasting like old bay.
Take the wrong item back and told again it wasn’t their fault. Finally a nice gentleman. Came out. We talked and I explained the problems. I was given my money back for the wrong and missing items. It’s sad that I have to write a review after giving this place a summer full of praise and business. There is a way to treat local and loyal customers and there is a way not to.
