Surf Bagel Long Neck — Restaurant in Rehoboth Beach

A real first time review without previous location bias- The interesting experience started with the sandwiches being stacked sideways, and hash brown you can’t see bent under the homefries. The bagel was wrapped decently but you can see how the scrapple sandwich was wrapped (so it was barely warm after driving 6 minutes home) with a large gap in the foil.

The flat sandwich is supposed to be a scrapple sandwich ($5.25) and came with the least amount of scrapple I’ve ever seen on a sandwich, one half of the sandwich as you can see quite literally has 3/4 of the bread showing, and the scrapple that’s actually there is legitimately thinner than 2 Nickels stacked on each other..

The second sandwich wasn’t mine so I won’t review it here.

Home fries were pretty good, seasoned great. Serving was fair

Hash brown was incredibly greasy and tasted like fish - so be sure to ask if you have allergies (luckily only $1)

If you’re looking for a 3-4-5 part sandwich with cheese and eggs and 2 meats and so on and so forth then I bet you’ll end up with a tasty sandwich, but if you’re the average person or have allergies to the above then expect not to be able to eat here since your $5-~$8 meat/bread sandwich won’t fill a child up; plus leaves you with a nice pile of leftover bread! Bonus I guess! Lol Maybe I should have tipped 20%...

We moved to DE in 2022. Coming from the NY/NJ area GOOD bagels are very hard to find in this area so we were ecstatic when we finally discovered Surf Bagel in Lewes. We purchased bagels at that location every weekend for quite a while. Then in 2023 things got even better when the new Surf Bagel store opened in Millsboro- less than 2 miles from where we live, so we started going there instead of Lewes. But something has happened- over time the bagel size and consistency seemed to change. And also the freshness. Now if you are having a sandwich with egg and meat or something else this might not be an issue but we just like to toast and add cream cheese and some Lox and it is a quite noticeable. So regrettably we've gone back to Lewes. Hope they can get this figured out.

Update June 2025: Been back at this store for several months now and I can happily say that my original concerns about consistency at Surf Bagel in Long Neck are no longer accurate. Problems Solved! ...

We pre-ordered because we were going on a boat trip and knew this location was very busy. one of the sesame bagel orders they ran out of the sesame bagels so then we had to wait for them to remake something else but the new bagel wasn't toasted, The cheese wasn't melted and the sandwich really tasted terrible. This is only the first time going to that location so I was very disappointed. We certainly could've waited another minute or two to have the sandwich made correctly. The other bacon and egg on toasted everything came out not toasted also🤷🏻‍♀️. Very hectic atmosphere -- we will stick to Rehoboth or...
