This review is for the Rehoboth location. Emailed these guys on 4/23 with my experience and no response so I’ll put my email here.
My wife and I came in for lunch because we had a gift certificate. To start I couldn’t tell the place was open, the neon OPEN sign was off, there were no cars parked near the restaurant, and a wooden palette was apparently being used as a step. But I noticed the door was cracked open. So we walked in and there was not a person in sight except one customer sitting at the bar. So we sat ourselves at the bar and the only lady working the front of the house came over, got our drinks and took our order. Food was fine, but once served this person was nowhere to be found, the other customer left and we were literally the only people in sight. After finishing our meal we sat alone and confused just waiting to pay and get out of there. About 15 minutes later she came out and spoke to another potential customer who also said she thought they might be closed, then we finally asked for our check. I explained I had a gift certificate and I understand you can’t tip on them so I asked her to charge us for my wife’s iced tea so I could tip on that. She told me there was a $10 minimum for credit cards. I explained we weren’t carrying cash and wanted to tip her, and asked her to make an exception. Instead she suggested charging us for one of our meals! I said no, but my wife who runs several restaurants for SoDel didn’t want to make it a big deal so she told her go ahead. We never got an actual bill so I can’t give you exact numbers but ultimately we went in to use a gift card, had about a $35 lunch and I had to put more on my credit card than the gift card! On top of that we now we have more money left on a gift certificate that has an expiration date! All because we wanted to make sure we could tip!
Needless to say we left very unimpressed and honestly pretty angry. How in the world can you do business like this, especially when we’re the only people in your restaurant?? Please revisit your policies in order to make it possible for your customers to take care of your servers/bartenders. Or empower your employees to make exceptions under unique circumstances. I am hate to admit we tipped under 20% for the first time in years. But the service was not good to begin with and we got ripped off at the end. We’ll go back to Lewes to use the rest of the gift card, probably just for takeout at this point.
Ate one other time there, my friend and I got steak an eggs medium rare. His looked great and mine looked like a salisbury steak from the old lunch cafeteria. There is a very eerie, no one cares vibe...

Nestled right on 19730 Coastal Highway, this locally owned gem serves up classic American breakfast and brunch with heart and hospitality A.
I stopped in solo on a Monday morning, and the vibe was peaceful, clean, and welcoming. My food and drinks arrived quickly, which is always a win when you’re traveling alone and just want a moment to savor something good.
Now let me tell you about Mariela, the bartender who turned my visit into something truly memorable. She was phenomenal—the kind of person who makes you feel seen and cared for. Her food recommendations were spot-on, and her suggestion to order the kids-size French toast alongside my veggie omelet was both thoughtful and fabulous. She’s not just great at her job—she’s genuinely beautiful inside and out, with a warmth that radiates through her customer service.
The veggie omelet was fresh and flavorful, and the French toast? Pure joy. I could taste the care in every bite. Whether you’re a solo traveler like me or just someone looking for a delicious, relaxing meal, Eggcellent is a must-visit.
✨ Highly recommend for anyone who appreciates good food, great service, and a little extra sunshine...
Read moreI recently visited Eggcellent, a family owned restaurant at their Rehoboth Beach location, and totally loved it! Although the place had recently opened up, it was running smoothly. The staff was friendly and attentive. The owner, Elina, was always visible checking in on guests and helping the staff. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. The place looked very clean; their restroom even had Poo pourri! I had a very berry french toast for breakfast, and my picky 5 year old ordered chicken nuggets. She ended up eating my French toast because she loved it so much! The portion was big enough to share though. The menu had lots of healthy options. We loved it so much that we came back for lunch the very next day! They were also conveniently located on the main highway on the way to the beach. Lots of free parking available. I was also impressed that our server had a little Ipad looking device that sent our order directly into the kitchen! Very convenient and such a time saver! I haven’t seen anything like this in Philly area where we live. I saw on their IG that they have a liquor license now! Anyway, stop by and check it out yourself if you haven’t done so yet! Will...
