Mikey's Family Crabhouse is a go-to destination for seafood enthusiasts, offering a wide variety of crab dishes and other tasty options. During my recent visit, I ordered the Angus Cheeseburger with fries, while my friend opted for the Crab Cake Sandwich and snow crabs. While the overall experience was enjoyable, there were a few areas where improvement could be made.
Let's start with the positives. The Angus Cheeseburger itself was delicious, with a juicy patty and gooey cheese that satisfied my burger cravings. The accompanying fries, however, fell short of expectations. They lacked the desired flavor and were somewhat bland, missing that crispy, seasoned goodness that would have elevated the dish. It would be great if Mikey's could enhance the seasoning or find a way to make the fries more flavorful to match the quality of their burgers.
As for my friend's Crab Cake Sandwich, the taste was somewhat disappointing. The crab cake had a crunchy texture that was unexpected and not quite what we were anticipating. It lacked the desired tenderness and had a slightly overcooked quality to it. While the flavors were decent, the texture detracted from the overall enjoyment. It would be wonderful if Mikey's could work on achieving a perfect balance of texture and flavor for their crab cake dishes.
One redeeming aspect of our visit was the generous gesture of providing us with an extra crab with our snow crab order. It's always a pleasant surprise when a restaurant goes the extra mile to make their customers feel appreciated. The snow crabs themselves were enjoyable, and the addition of an extra crab enhanced the overall value and experience. It's these small gestures that leave a lasting impression and make diners feel valued.
The ambiance and service at Mikey's Family Crabhouse were commendable. The restaurant had a casual and welcoming atmosphere, perfect for a relaxed meal with friends or family. The staff members were attentive, friendly, and ensured that our needs were met throughout the dining experience. Their knowledge of the menu and willingness to accommodate special requests added to the positive experience.
In summary, Mikey's Family Crabhouse offers a satisfying dining experience for crab enthusiasts and seafood lovers. While there were areas that could be improved, such as the blandness of the fries and the crunchy texture of the crab cake, the overall quality of the food and the generous gesture of an extra crab with our snow crab order left a positive impression. With some refinements, Mikey's has the potential to elevate their dishes to...
Read moreThe only reason we’re giving this place one star is because our waitress put three tables on one tab instead of splitting it. This put such a damper on our great night. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was great and we had a wonderful dinner. However, it all got ruined when we were left sitting for over an hour after finishing dinner trying to figure out the bill and who got what food at what table and how we were going to pay for this ginormous bill of over $1,000.
From the beginning when we were ordering, we asked our waitress if we could split the tab at our table because there were two different families sitting with us, she commented “no I can’t split checks but I can do it by table”. Let me preface that we were with a huge group of people, but different families were sitting at three separate tables. Since we couldnt split the tab by family at each table we were fine having 3 separate tabs.
At the end of the night when we asked for our check for our table, she said “oh I don’t have a check for your table All of the tables are together”. We were of course confused. Why would you put three tables on one tab?! The tab was over $1000 and she refused to split anything, she wasn’t helpful at all and didn’t try to come up with any solutions. One person could not put this huge bill on their card so luckily she let us provide two credit cards to split it.
The waitress of course, didn’t care or try to help us in any way because she had already included tip with such a huge party so she was getting her money either way and it was obviously easier for her to just do one tab then three separate tables.
To our waitress, you single-handedly ruined our evening and put such a bad name for this restaurant. What a terrible way to handle the bill. We will not be...
Read moreBeen coming here for years as we don't live too far away. Per usual, we we went for the all you can eat crabs. They said they were from Louisiana, which normally we prefer Chesapeake crabs and only eat Chesapeake crabs, but in years past Mickeys was the place to always get good crabs. Not this year and last year was starting to go down hill too. Many of the crabs were bad, and many were paper-shell crabs that were not even close to full. It reminded us of the trash you get from DE bay. The waitress rarely came around and at the end of the night she brought us the check but wouldn't come back to take the payment. We had to ask 3 people to go find her. The third said they couldn't find her anywhere. Finally, another waiter took the payment and after a long wait they return with the change. Also, last year we noticed that the bathroom that is further away from the bar does not lock well. Therefore if you go to that bathroom you can count on someone intruding. After accidentally opening the door on someone, I realized that this is still a problem. A whole year and busy season later and they can't fix the lock on a door? The gentlemen that were bussing tables loudly proclaimed that they could leave when the people left when someone inquired how long they were staying. Soon after they just stood by our table waiting for us to finish and intruding to keep taking stuff off our table. We were not yet finished. Unfortunately we are both sick today from the crabs.. which is not what you expect from true quality crabs, maybe that's what you expect from DE bay crabs but these were not supposed to be DE bay crabs. You also don't expect to pay over $84 for a meal of trash crabs, burnt corn, and bad service. It's unfortunate that this place has gone so downhill. It used...
