My husband and I really enjoyed our stay here. It was only an April weekend getaway for us, but we were celebrating our 3 month anniversary and it ended up being a mini honeymoon for us! We booked a couples massage at the Drift Away Spa which is located on the 3rd floor of the North/main building of the hotel on Friday afternoon and we highly recommend it. It was so relaxing and therapeutic. We loved the hotel's location, as it was centrally located in the shopping and restaurant district of town as well as being right on the boardwalk and right in front of the ocean. We were able to walk to everything! We enjoyed sitting on the beach (yes, even in April - we lucked out with beautiful weather on Saturday), walking on the beach and boardwalk, shopping, and eating at the many restaurants surrounding the hotel. You must try their restaurant, 99 Sea Level - the views were amazing, the service was very good, and the food was excellent! We wore our Mr. and Mrs. masks and guests were stopping us to congratulate us on our marriage! The restaurant even comped our dessert for us - their bread pudding, which was excellent and a must do if you like bread pudding. Our room was on the 3rd floor (the highest floor, which I requested in the Marriott Bonvoy app when I booked our vacation) and it had such a beautiful view of the ocean and boardwalk even though it wasn't an oceanfront room. We were in the South building on the south side. The only downside is that you have to go outside to go to the North/main building for all of the activities, such as the pool, restaurant, spa, lobby and lounge area where they had live music on Friday and Saturday night and hot tea, coffee and water during the day. We loved the view from our room and we're not sure if we could get that view without booking oceanfront in the North/main building, so we think it was worth walking outside in April being damp from the pool to get to our room for a nice hot shower. Our room and the entire hotel was very clean and the staff were all very friendly and attentive. Be sure to check out Andy's beautiful handpainted Christmas ornaments that are for sale in the hotel lounge area. Andy is one of the many hotel staff there who was so very nice and helpful. Bethany Beach is such a cute little beach town and we had such a great time at this hotel and would definitely...

The rooms are ok. Would like to see updates to the room furniture/decor and bathrooms to match the price. Beds in the room are on the softer side and the mattresses probably need replacement. The comforter was way too thin. Water pressure was too low in the shower.
We had an issue in our room where the curtain rod fell upon trying to close it fully, I was able to make it work but the curtains need replacement as they are too short to blackout and are worn. We had an issue as well with the toilet seat being loose and on the last morning the toilet clogged. I told someone at front desk at about 8:45AM of the issue and it wasn't resolved by the time we checked out at 12PM.
Breakfast was fine, could have used more fruit (bananas/apples/oranges).
The morning of checkout (Monday) food/empty bottles/trash was left probably overnight on the table by firepit outside on patio I noticed this around 8:45AM and when we left after eating lunch outside, the food/trash was still sitting there.
Stayed in the South building this time which ended up being fine, however I was surprised that there was no key card access required to enter the building/use the elevator. We just stayed at the Tapestry in Fenwick Island and appreciated the security there in the hotel.
I understand the demand for beach vacations and lack of hotels in Bethany lead to a high price here, but I think the hotel needs to do a lot more to justify the price because if it just continues to rely on it's location, it'll go downhill over time.
Really wish the property was renovated and rebranded as an Autograph Collection, Tribute Portfolio, or a more upscale brand to justify the price.
To add insult to injury, Residence Inns only award 5 points per $ whereas the entire rest of the Marriott portfolio gives 10...
Read moreWe live only 90 minutes from the beach and frequently go for a weekend getaway to relax. We've stayed at Bethany Beach Ocean Suites a few times. None of our stays have gone particularly well; however, we stay there because there is an excellent balcony view, they allow dogs (but have no dog relief area despite their insistence that there is one a few blocks away), and we prefer the overall atmosphere of Bethany vs Rehoboth. Our last stay was the most horrifying experience I've ever had at a hotel. Check-in was a disastrous nightmare. We headed to our assigned room in the building across the street, climbed the stairs, and opened the door. The first thing we noticed was a woman's purse on the table and then suitcases. We were given a room key and allowed to enter an already occupied room. Shocked, we returned to the check-in desk and, after a long, long wait, were given another room, a 50% discount, and an offer of a $50 credit in the hotel bar. We did not accept the $50 credit. We opened the door to the second room noticed belongings, and a woman sitting on the balcony. Again, we were assigned a room that was already occupied. We returned to the check-in area again, this time furious. Another long wait that included what seemed like endless tapping on computer keys and sending someone to the next room to verify that it was not occupied. Thankfully, the third room was unoccupied, and we were fully refunded.
We picked up lunch on the way to the hotel. After all of the delays and waiting, our food was ruined.
The person who kept assigning us occupied rooms was in charge of the hotel at that time (I believe the name was Brett or something starting with a B), so there was no one higher up to summon.
Imagine the security risks here. We could've stolen all of the belongings in the room, frightened guests, or been assaulted for unexpectedly entering someone's room. Thankfully, we're not thieves and were able to slip out of the rooms uninjured and undetected.
The whole check-in process was...
