This was our second visit here. Both times, staff was nice. First time, I think we got the manicotti and lasagna, and it was pretty good. We decided to come back tonight for the pizza, and ... Ugh, I really hate giving bad reviews, and full disclosure - I'm from Brooklyn so I am a bit of a pizza snob... I have had decent pizza in Delaware but this pizza is probably the worst I ever had. We ordered a whole pie, and my husband and I could not even finish one slice. I lied to the waitress when she asked how it was, because it wasn't her fault it was bad. The crust tasted cracker-ish which was a bizarre texture for pizza. And the sauce, cheese, and sausage were tasteless. The crust had some weird shine to it, like maybe they coated it with oil or something. I don't know - everything about this pizza was bad. I suspect they buy the crust frozen and then just put the toppings on it and cook it. Frankly, frozen pizza from the supermarket tastes better. We were surprised because this is supposed to be an Italian restaurant and our first meal there was actually pretty good. If the owners read this, I suggest that they please try actually making their own pizza dough from scratch and stop using whatever they are currently using as their pizza crust because it just ruined the pizza. And I don't know what sauce they used but it was very acidic. Good pizza sauce needs to have the perfect balance of acidic and sweet. Thanks...
Read moreAtmosphere was okay, we were in a booth sitting on a large duct tape patch. Not very appealing. Service was fine. The food, where do I begin. The bread came out warm which is good until we tried it. It appeared to be a frozen loaf that was heated. It was doughy and bland. We each tried a piece and were done. Not good. I ordered Chicken Parmesan and it was prepared correctly. The breast was beaten flat and fried to a golden brown. The meat seemed fined but there was a burnt flavor which may have come from the sauce. I say that because my side of linguine, which was actually spaghetti, had the same sauce and it also had a burnt flavor. Two issues here, burnt sauce and serving spaghetti when it is supposed to be linguine. What Italian restaurant doesn’t know the difference? Finally my spouses dish. She ordered a baked dish, Spinach Lasagna. She took one bike and couldn’t take another. She said it appeared that the Lasagna had been frozen and then reheated. The spinach was mealy and the flavor off. I can say my wife has never sent a dish back until tonight. The Owner or proprietor didn’t even come over to discuss our concerns. If she had she could have tasted her handiwork. I gave one star because if the the food isn’t right and ownership doesn’t care what are we doing here? I am sorry to say that I cannot recommend...
Read moreLeaving the beach on friday, we decided to stop for a late lunch. The resturant wasn't busy at the time and we were seated immediatly; the hostess took our drink orders before leaving. When the drinks arrived we ordered the Italian Stromboli and the Gnocchi. The stromboli was huge and very delicious. The crust was thin and crispy but not burnt, there were plenty of stuffings and cheese, and the sauce was very good. The stromboli was not folded over but twisted, which was a neat addition. It came with a side of marinara, but it didn't need any; except maybe for dipping some of the crust. The Gnocchi was very pillowy and soft, but I only got to try a couple before my girlfriend ate them all. The stromboli was so good that we decided to get a pizza to go. The pizza was pretty good when we had it for dinner.
The service was great and very friendly. All things added together makes me think they really try for excellence at this place.
On a side note, the desserts looked amazing, but we were too full to get any. In particular they had a Cannoli Cake, a white cake layered with cannoli filling. Each slice was topped with a small cannoli and bits of chocolate. The cheesecakes and other desserts looked...
