Likely not the fault of this specific store, but had a very poor chat experience today while trying to shop this store. I was trying to get an answer to a simple question using the Chat feature. The virtual assistant requested an agent for me at 12:54 PM for a question it could not answer ("Does Home Depot install ovens?"). At 1:04 PM it said sorry it's taking so long. At 1:09 PM I switched quickly to another page to look at something else. I came back at 1:13 PM and found that the agent showed having responded at 1:06 PM and disconnected the chat at 1:13 PM. This timing couldn't have happened since I last looked at it at 1:09 PM and there was no response (I know the timing of the clock on their system was correct because the 12:54 PM start time matched my system clock). Very poor experience to hold us as customers hostage having to stare unblinking at the screen for over 15 min and then disconnect when we change off screen for 3 minutes. I get that they can get busy, so I understand waiting, particularly since this is a Sunday afternoon. But if we have to wait that long, they should at least wait a little longer for us. Other systems at least give the option to reconnect to an agent at the front of the queue. Not nearly the level of service I expect from Home Depot. Quite a shame since I was trying to buy a $1300...
Read moreI recently purchased a whirlpool top freezer stainless steel refrigerator for a rental home. When the unit arrived I noticed a loose wire in freezer when I started to install the ice maker. I immediately called and reported the issue and within a couple of days a fellow showed up and took care of the issue. He plugged it in for the first time and I left for the day. The following day I checked the freezer and it was room temperature after running almost 24 hours. I called the warranty people and they sent a fellow the next day. That , Morning it was down to 60’. The serviceman inspected the unit and told me I needed a compressor, evaporator, drier and something else, but those parts were on back order and won’t be in for 4~6 weeks. This is a brand new unit. I called Home Depot and they gave me the 800 number. I called that and said that since the nearly $1000 unit was worthless I wanted it picked up and replaced since I had tenant moving in less than 30 days from now. Whirlpool told that since a work order had been started and parts ordered they could not swap it out. I called Home Depot and they said there was little that they could do since they only sell the units. So just wanted to share what happened to me trying to buy a new refrigerator...
Read moreIf I could give zero star I would! I went shopping today using a $100 Home Depot gift card at the Rehoboth store #1604. I could not remove the coating covering the pin number so I asked for assistance at the checkout and customer service. By the time 4 employees tried to remove this coating the pin number was completely erased ( see photo). No one knew what to do next and when I asked for the store manager (Lindsey Fey) I overheard him tell the customer service representative "tell them they are out the hundred dollars". You mean to tell me that a billion dollar company has no way of telling where a gift card was purchased and for how much!! As a long time customer I am appalled at this totally unprofessional handling of this matter.
4/21/2024 I want to acknowledge the fact that Home Depot has addressed the situation and through phone calls and emails expressed their regret for what happened. I heard not only from the store manager but also from their corporate office. They made good by giving me a $150 gift card and contact person in their corporate office for any issues I may have in the future. I am pleased with their actions to correct the disappointment of a long...
