Grotto Pizza — Restaurant in Delaware

Food was relatively decent. Being from NYC I didn't expect the pizza to be as good and it definitely wasn't. That being said the pizza was still good enough. The wings were excellent. Our waitress was great but she was sometimes unavailable. There was a hostess around not really doing much (the place was mostly empty) but when we'd try to call her over to ask for water or more drinks she'd ignore us. When she came over to serve us she was somewhat rude while our main waitress and other waitresses were very nice. On our way out I looked toward her to see if I'd get the usual "have a good night" or something similar that you'd expect from any decent hostess. However, to my surprise she made eye contact with me and then instantly looked away. Mind you there was absolutely nobody else at the front that she could've been busy with. She made it a point to look at me and then turn her head away without a smile or a word. Very very rude and it felt like she had some gripe with our group. It's the small things that make a good restaurant atmosphere come together and this hostess (brown hair, relatively tall, skinny build, blue shirt) was completely off putting.

Bottom line - this is a good pizza spot, service is very quick, and the prices are great, but that particular hostess needs to be retrained or moved to a different role. Her attitude...

The female server that I had the first time I was there was actually going to college in my hometown so we hit it off as she was SUPER Pleasant AND VERY accommodating... The second time I was there I had a male server located in the same dinning room as the female server and had the chance to speak with her once again, and like usual she was a pleasure to speak with and was Very kind, she was very attentive to our needs but wasn't out server as we had a young guy who wasn't very attentive at all forgetting my drink several times and didn't check in on us at all. I don't know if he's new at working as a server but clearly needed some improvement. But he's young and most likely working his way through college like most young people are and I tipped him well anyway.... Things are tough all over and every little bit helps,... Still one of the best pizza places I know of and will certainly go again... Hopefully getting the female server from my hometown once again as that...

Went to watch a football game and have pizza and a beer with my family. Asked to put put the game on. “All TVs are set” said the young woman. I was fine with this because my father and I decided to wait to eat lunch with my mother who was returning from church. We arrived at the start of the 2nd quarter. I politely asked again to be have the game changed in a back room where no one was sitting so my family and I could enjoy the game, as the Tv was the 7th tv the same game on. Was ignored by staff completely. Politely ask the manager, again ignored. Not upset but frustrated a little. Ordered our pizza and it came out wrong. When the waitress tried to accommodate all I said was “ if you could turn on the game In the empty room that would be nice” nothing! At this point it was gross and blatant disrespect and disregard for anything costumer service based. Fail! Grotto’s Fail!! You have had my business 45 years. Wished Nic-A-Boli was still...
