The only reason I gave 3 stars is for the service, they were very friendly, greeted me with smiles, and brought out the food in a timely manner. However, the food wasn't great at all. Their beef tasted disgusting, it was gritty, and looked like it had not completely mashed potatoes mixed in it, so they could save money. This potato beef mixture was in a taco, I paid $16 and didn't even eat everything. Didn't eat the last taco, and their "burrito" was just a tortilla with chicken inside, no beans, rice, onions, or cilantro. Not to mention it was the size of a McDonald's sausage, egg burrito. Very small, and the meat was very dry. I used two entire to go cups of salsa just to eat the little I did. I didn't finish the so called burrito either. This food, either they racially profiled me because I'm white, or they don't know what Mexican food is. I hope they just profiled me, because this wasn't good Mexican food whatsoever. I strongly recommend that nobody come here for Mexican food, I should've known when they had on their sign Mexican and American food that I'd disappoint...
Read moreAnother highly-rated local joint in Deming I had high hopes for... but, well, I guess I just don't like Deming-style red enchilada sauce (preferring Las Cruces style and elsewhere in the southern NM valley). The red sauce here is red-orange and appears to be tomato based with high amounts of cumin and ??? nutmeg? -- three things I don't want in my red sauce. While the red sauce was noticeably different from the place I tried the night before, it was still in the same class in that it is something like Old El Paso brand, as far as I recall. The ranchero sauce was better--as in: more interesting--but still a bit weird and not along the lines of what I would prefer to find in a Mexican joint. The chips and salsa were merely...
Read moreGem in the New Mexican desert! Stopped in for breakfast in Deming, NM and my wife spotted this place and opted for Mexican food instead of the typical drive thru fast food place and so glad she did! Amazingly delicious Mexican food. I had the green chilaquiles topped with carne asada and grilled onions, sides of grilled scalloped potatoes, refried beans, scrambled eggs, flour tortilla and fresh coffee. My wife had the pork chops with the same sides. Such a good breakfast for the beginning of our road trip back to California. Highly recommend and the staff super friendly and helpful....
