This is the second and likely last time I will ever eat here. Both times, the appetizers were alright but the sushi was just awful.
This time we visited around 3:00 pm on a Saturday which was meant to be a low-activity, no-wait period. We waited half an hour, presumably for the sake of a shift change. The hosting staff was dismissive and uncertain about estimated times.
Our waitress was wonderful and very pleasant, despite a lack of communication resulting in our receiving one wrong dish and then another miscommunication that resulted in an unwanted plate of our original order.
Our two appetizers (fried softshell crab and stuffed jalapenos) were good. The crab is cheaply priced and decently tasting.
Our sushi, however, was an absolute travesty. We ordered a loveboat for two and managed to eat maybe two or three pieces. It was a lovely presentation and the pickles were very good but the whitefish was partially frozen, the salmon was very fishy, the tuna tasted okay but was washed out in color and pasty in texture, the rice was cold, hard, and unseasoned, the fish was cut thin and at weird angles, and every single roll was so poorly constructed they fell apart as soon as they were picked up. It seems obvious they keep fish and refreeze it multiple times until it all gets used even past the time of flavor or texture remaining intact. And for $50.00, you don't get a soup or salad or anything; not that I'm sure I'd trust the quality if it were offered.
I don't even understand it. We have experience eating sushi everywhere but our standards aren't impossibly high-- you get a better deal and better quality sushi from the new Carter's supermarket without having to wait half an hour in the middle of the day for a shift change in order to have a seat in the first place.
Also the menus are hilariously dirty and falling apart. Every page of mine was virtually crumbling away. Thank goodness for our waitress being an angel, but otherwise it's really not worth visiting if this it what they're serving on a weekend.
I feel very bad for the nice customers a table or two over who expressed that this was one of their first times trying Japanese cuisine and who were interested in our order. This is a really bad first experience for anyone that could put them off it indefinitely.
The first sushi image is how much we received. The second is how much we left behind. We hate wasting food but it was just too...
Read moreI probably will never be going back to this restaurant again after yesterdays experience. Sad part is that wasn't the first time I've had a problem there. So yesterday we showed up about 6 oclock. We had a table for 8. Also waiting in the lobby was a table for 20 and a table for 6 showed up after us and then 2 tables for 4. We came in after the table for 20. so we were in line 2nd. Just to give you a visual.. they had 90 percent of the resturant avaliable in seating but because our whole party wasnt there we werent allowed to be seated. We were waiting on one person, who couldnt even find a parking spot when they go there. the table for 20 finally had everyone there so they went, and then since we had to wait for our 1 person to sit every other table after that also had to wait for people sat before us. it got to the point that the restaurant was full and we had a 25-30 minute wait after that, due to one person in our table being late 10 minutes. We didnt stay. that was just yesterday. Before experiences included the hibachi guy rushing and splashing grease in my father's eye, they apologized but it shouldnt have happened if the guy wasnt being rushed, we get it mistakes happen, my dad was wearing contacts so he could take it off and rest his eye he was better the next day, so we didnt complain even though most of our food was also half way cooked that day. I don't like to complain but after yesterday and the rude behavior of the waitress in the front and the fact that even if we did get seated when we should have they would have 40 people ordering at once probably causing rushing again and possible eye injurys and they already take forever for a roll of sushi. So all in all the food is okay, overpriced a little for the fact that you only get soup or salad at lunch and they dont even do the teppanyaki style noodles with your entree like other...
Read moreDisclaimer: I am an ind Food reviewer. I am not a professional food critics. My review is base on hand on experience and only directly at what I ordered on this particular visit. My review does not has any bias from previous reviewer or paid by anyone to review this restaurant. Date and time visit: 10/07/2023 at 11:50 AM. The restaurant’s physical appearance look nice. There are parking but it’s possible to be limited on a busy day. Inside: It is normal nothing really stands out. It’s may be a little warm due to all the hibachi. Food: It is quite basic. I order a fried calamari, spicy yellow tail roll, shrimp and beef. The food itself is very standard. It was under seasoned. Seevices: Our waitress was okay. I keep have to ask for soy sauce for my sushi, a dipping tray for my soy sauce. I was with my small child today. We only order 1 drink. She acted very surprised when we requested only 1 drink. “ you only order 1 drink for both of you?” I only finished 2/3 of the drink but was never offer to get a refill. Last and foremost, this restaurant tried to kick you out as soon as the chef done cooking at the hibachi. Once the chef done and cleaned the grill. The waitress came with togo boxes. I like to have all my food on my plate before I really start to eat. Takumi does not give you time to actually eat. They came with togo boxes. Price: it’s between $22-28/person average. Overall: I only give this restaurant 2 starts base on the under seasoned food, it’s service does not focus on customers who are trying to enjoy their meals with their love one. They are more focus on get people in and out. It seems like the goal is the experience not...
