On May 13th I dined in at Pecorino Romano, a restaurant I have gone to many times and enjoyed . Tonight’s experience was not a good one. The service( not from our waiter he was terrific) and food were very disappointing.
I ordered the Caesar Salad and the Seafood Casserole. While eating the Caesar Salad I put some in my mouth and bit into something extremely hard. I took it out of my mouth, and it was an oyster shell. I ate about half of it before I found the shell. I told the waiter and he said he would tell the manager. I then replied to my dinner companion that it was a good thing I was not allergic to shellfish or even choked on it as it a piece that could noy be ignored. Then came the main course. I got the Seafood Casserole as I like all the items that were used to describe it. I was excited to try it and it smelled off. I tried a few bites, and I could not eat anymore. The waiter came back and asked why I was not eating it and I explained it tasted off. Once again, the waiter said he would speak to the manager of the restaurant and asked if I would like something else I declined since my companion had already shared her meal with me. We ordered gelato for dessert which was wonderful!
When the waiter brought the bill to the table, he said he spoke to the manager and he took the Seafood Casserole off the bill. Nothing was said or done about the Caesar Salad at all. Before I left I asked the waiter if he had spoken to the manager in regards to the salad and he said yes and was sorry but there was nothing he could do. I am most disappointed that the manager never came to the table to apologize. I felt that I was not valued as a customer. I also feel that his employee was not valued either to have to deal solo with a guest that was less than happy. I feel an apology would have gone a long way. I could have choked on the shell or broken teeth.
I guess I just expected more...

We started off with the lobster bisque, mussels, and caprese salad. The bisque was OK, but didn't have much seafood flavor, suggesting that it was just bought fish stock instead of nice cooked lobster stock in house. The mussels were OK but several were still sandy. And the tomatoes for the caprese salad were not really ripe.
For main courses we had the sirloin steak, osso bucco, carbonara, and pasta with clams. Every single one of the dishes was not really up to par. The sirloin steak was certainly not prime (rather tough) and not very flavorful -- fine for a steak at a diner, but not when paying close to $50. The carbonara was gloopy to the point the pasta was sticking together in clumps. The clam sauce was super watery and more similar to the liquid in the mussel appetizer than to a clam sauce. And the osso bucco (which should be veal) was actually a lamb shank. It wasn't bad, but not what one would expect. But worse was the cheese rissotto: The rice was still crunchy and the cheese taste was overpowering.
The only part of the dinner that was truly outstanding was the dessert. Both the tiramisu and the pecan cheese cake were excellent.
The service was also underwhelming. The waiter was surly and not really interested in the job. He was unkempt, with stains on his shirt that was pulling out from his pants. Plates were slapped onto the table and pushed down with little care. This kind of service doesn't bother me much, but I expect more when paying more than $50pp...
Read moreHeard many good things about Pecorino Romano ans was looking forward to a good meal, which was not to be had. Seated right away, yeah! Waiter arrived and asked if we would like a drink. After asking how the Gavi Gavi wine is like the one word answer "Dry" is all the response received. Hmmm, ok could I try a sample of the Chardonnay? After literally rolling his eyes the waiter leaves, doesn't ask my husband if he would like something, but just walks away. After 10 min (yes the place was busy and I'm not the only customer) I look through the slit between the wall and side of our booth to find our waiter. He glances up at me and finally brings me my sample of wine. Not getting good vibes so far. Ordered the Pasta Fagioli which almost landed in my husband lap from the runner placing it on the table at an angle-oops! Good thing there was an under plate. Soup was watery with very little ingredients in it as though the pot hadn't been stirred before ladling out the portion. I ordered Chicken Pesto with Shrimp, the one piece of chicken was dry, but the shrimp was good. My husband ordered Lamb Osso Bucco. When I make this dish it falls off the bone. Not here, hard to cut off the bone and chew. Not worth going back to. Kudos to Juan who did a remarkable job cleaning and setting up tables. That...
