My husband and I decided to visit chuys for our wedding anniversary this year, I had been looking forward to this dinner for over a week. Upon walking in we noticed how incredibly loud it was inside the restaurant, we were rushed into a very crowded and uncomfortable room. We sat at our table waiting for a waiter/waitress to notice us for nearly 15 minutes, once our waitress noticed us we were rushed through ordering our drinks and even though we were ready to order our food at this point she didn’t give us a chance. She left us with chips and salsa, this salsa was unlike any Chuys salsa I’ve ever had, it was watery and separated. The entire time we were waiting for our order the family next to us was yelling their very inappropriate conversation making my husband and myself very uncomfortable. Then our food came, I ordered a chicken fajita burrito with charro beans instead of refried as I dislike the texture refried beans. The outside of my burrito was room temperature at best though the inside was warm. I must admit I was confused when the waitress dropped off a bowl of charro beans but I didn’t think much of it until I felt the uncomfortable texture of refried beans in my mouth. To add to this I struggled to find any chicken in burrito other than the single piece on top and the queso on top of it was oily, at this point I was pretty upset and wanted to tell the waitress about the issues. She offered to bring me a bowl of chicken (???) and I said no thank you I’d rather just remove the burrito from our order entirely since I only took 2 bites. She didn’t offer me a menu to order something else she just assumed I was done which I was not, I would’ve liked to actually eat dinner. The free dessert advertised on the menu wasn’t offered to my daughter but at this point we just wanted to leave so we packed up what was left of my husbands meal (which he wasn’t pleased with either but I won’t get into that).
To sum up our experience we felt like the waitress was more interested in the large table next to us (larger table larger tip) than she ever was in us. As an Austinite this was my first time visiting a Chuys in Denton and I am extremely disappointed, I had high expectations and ended up...
Read moreThe free chips and salsa were good, and got a refill. That's the only good I can give. I'm a single mother came with my 2 kids for Friday night dinner. We were sat at a table and it was super cold. Sat there for a good while and no one helped us. We went to the bathroom and came back. Still no one helped us. So we hunted down a lady to move us outside. The male server outside took our drinks, but took a bit to come back to us to take our order. I asked for 2 kids meals- mini burrito and asked if they had a kids nachos. The server said they could do a half serving of normal. Cool okay. Then mine was a chimi meal. 2 kids drinks- a water and tea no ice and 1 adult sweet tea. Food took over 30 minutes to come out, and it's why we got the chip refill. When it did - my chimi was over cooked and chicken dry and chewy. My kids' kid nachos came with 4 chips with beans and cheese salad, tomatoes, and jalapeños. My daughter only ate 1 and half because neither of us realized the nachos were made like that, and she doesn't like that type.. The other kids meal came with a ton of rice. This meal was the only half decent one. I would have said something to the waiter but he never checked on us after that, and he wasn't the person that brought the food out. Ice came in tea that asked no ice for. No refills on drinks.. Nada. We didn't even get the kids meal free deserts. He was helping his other tables and being tentative to them. When I got the bill- I was charged for 3 adult meals and 2 adult drinks. I said something to him and he was supposed to correct it. I told him not to worry about the price for the nachos because that was expected since technically not kid meal. He came back with the same amount, same bill, and had already charged to my account. Which was about a $10 difference from what it should have been. So I only left a $2 tip. I shouldn't have left any though. I think we were there for a total of...
Read moreDeep sigh ok. First and foremost I would like to point out that this is a TEX-MEX restaurant. With that being said, this was not only a disgrace to Texas but also Mexican cuisine. To begin, the atmosphere is wildly cluttered. There are things hanging from the ceiling, a ton of crap on the walls and mixed chairs all over the place, I couldn’t tell you what the theme of the restaurant was other than a mess. Upon being presented with those chips and “salsa” my immediate reaction was to just run; however, I stuck it out and now highly regret that decision. I ordered a large margarita on the rocks. $11 for someone to mess up what could be one of the most easiest drinks to make, just nasty. You could tell me they water down their tequila with water from the hose outside and I would 100% believe you. Then I continued to order a $14 beef fajita burrito. The burrito came with with beef fajita that was somehow charred and chewy at the same time along with what could easily be described as a measly quarter cup of very very mediocre rice and a few diced tomatoes on top of what could reminded me of Jack in the box taco lettuce (thin, warm and soggy) and the burrito itself was drenched with queso sauce that dried up within minutes. The service was not great at all but I don’t blame them one bit seeing the tools they have to work with, they’re doing their best. There are no points in this review where I would say if you fixed this it would be better, the whole establishment just needs to pack it up and go. To anyone just desperately craving Mexican food like I was, I plead you to please just go buy the ingredients and look up a YouTube video of how to prepare the dish you are craving because even if you mess up, you’d be less disappointed then going...
