I spent just over $60 ($50 for food/drink and $10 for svc, which was excellent) for a restaurant that has been in business long enough, I should not have encountered the following --- The wait. My wife and I waited over 22 mins. It turns out the young lady at the front wrote the incorrect phone number on the tablet, so we did not receive the text they sent telling us it was time to be seated. Due to the very open building and high ceiling, the conversations and normal restaurant noise is amplified, uncomfortably for our taste...too loud. If a text isn't answered in perhaps 2-3 mins, she should have asked those of us still seated our names. To rectify, I recommend the front desk repeat the phone number back to the customer after it's entered into the tablet to ensure accuracy. Additionally, the customer should be told the approx wait time, along with the fact...and this is important...they have the option to sign in to wait online. This tactfully tells the customer, without stating it, they may see people who walk in after them...seated before them. And boy did we, at least three groups. I finally went up to ask why and was told about the option to check in online. The $10 mimosa. The base of a mimosa is orange juice. I have no idea what the orangish fluid was in the glass, but it was not high quality orange juice. Perhaps because it's more of a health food establishment, it was a mixture of something else? If I were blind-folded and it were given to me to taste, I would not have been able to guess it was orange juice, the taste was that far off and absolute not good...something bad about it. That and it was horrid, prob the most putrid tasting 'fruit juice' I've ever had. Of course, adding the champagne did not help at all. It was a huge waste of $$. Perhaps it was a bad 'batch' of ... whatever? The Works omelette. An omelette is a celebration of the egg, with the addition of additional goodies inside, only limited to the imagination of the customer. Most of the time, I had a fork full of the non-egg elements on the inside, which were excellent BTW, but no egg. The egg encasement of the interior goodies is deathly thin, not allowing for an EGG-omelette-eating experience. You absolutely need to add AT LEAST one more egg to your 'omelette' so as to enjoy some egg in each bite with the wonderful elements included inside. If the chef states the contrary Mr/Miss manager, try one yourself and see how much egg you are able to eat with each bite. Atmosphere/Building. I have never in my 45 yrs eating in restaurants seen so much wasted space...on people waiting. Why would you do that? People understand wait lists if the establishment is worth it. The extra space for plush waiting seating, the extra space between that seating, the hostess counter, and the cashier counter...what a waste. No, I'm not talking about crowding more booths or tables in to stuff people in, but for goodness sake...so much wasted space! Put a few more booths in, a few more tables. People understand waiting outside or in their car (because you text them anyway), and you have online wait sign-up. Feed more people...get us in faster with more seating! I and my wife will be waiting a few months to visit again, hoping to see a few changes. Sure, the last one is not going to happen, I'm sure, but I plan to order the same thing next time...just to see...
Read moreThis was our first visit to First Watch, and we had high hopes. It looks really nice. Well decorated, open, and clean. The staff we encountered were helpful and considerate, explaining specials, etc… But the food. The wife and I split the special (Croissant Breakfast Sandwich) and their Floridian French Toast. First, the croissant was just croissant shaped bread, which is very disappointing. Croissant should be flaky, buttery, airy. You know, very distinctive. We agreed after that we’d rather have had the “croissant” from a Burger King Croissandwich. The bacon was wonderful, perfectly rendered, thick, peppery. But the jalapenos were flavorless. And while the potatoes looked like they had a chance a glory, the complete lack of seasoning and slight underdone cook left them a sad version of their potential. And the French toast? Wrong bread. While thick, it lacked any personality and both wasn’t soaked long enough to create a custard nor crisped on the outside as you should with either style of French toast. Utter failure. The fruit was nice, though. Oh, and if you want actual maple syrup, you can get it. And then you can pay $1.79 for it. We won’t be going back. There are too many better spots to spend this kind of money at and get much...

My wife ordered one of their season specials, pumpkin pancake with scrambled eggs. The pancake had no pumpkin flavor but was still good, but they served the meal with over easy eggs. Fortunately she does like them. I ordered another seasonal, the Honey Chipotle Chicken Hash. I ordered it with eggs over easy but it was served with either fully fried eggs or with eggs not scrambled eggs- all stuck together. They did redo my order with no hesitation, the second time with over easy eggs. Both meals were lukewarm in temperature vice hot. Not sure if the issues were due to the personal wanting to close as soon as possible, but regardless we expect more from a restaurant, especially given their increased prices and First Watch’s reputation. Will give them another try and hopefully it...
