My rating since my first visit has changed. To be honest, I really like pei wei and so want to give them a rave review, however I can't. My first visit here was 5 stars to me. My friend and I shared the lettuce wraps, which were so on point it was everything I hoped for. The firecracker chicken was also very yummy with a slight crunch and a slight kick. It really hit the spot. However, I have since been back now 3 times. The firecracker chicken is still good. The Mongolian beef has a good flavor, but i have to question the quality or the origin of the meat as it's very chewy, not at all like real beef. My son couldn't eat it it was taking him forever to break it down before swallowing. Furthermore, I wasn't the only one. The people next to me had it,and they didn't finish it. I overheard him, say it took almost a whole minute to chew one piece, and she also mentioned its chewiness. Then my order today was the Thai basil chicken and an order of the wonton soup. The soup was just ok. I hoped for a little unami, but it had a lil sweetness to it that wasn't so pleasing. The worst is the chicken, which I also have to wonder of origin. It had a slimy texture, it too was chewy in some parts, in my personal and professional opinion should not be the case. I suppose I will have to come here for ONLY the lettuce wraps and perhaps another order of the firecracker chicken. Mind you, i came here w high hopes and hungry, so sad. Happy eating y'all. Now, go get your...
Read moreI was very excited to try the new Pei Wei in Denton, TX. The restaurant is beautiful and clean. The staff were great. The food was very disappointing. I got 3 dishes to try with my family. Chicken Avacado & Broccoli bowl, Chicken & Broccoli and Chicken Fried Rice. It doesn't seem like the food is cooked to order. They were pulling the food from heated bins and assembling the order. I can't really describe the chicken in the bowl or the fried rice. It tastes very strange, bland and dry and is gray in color and just off. In addition to that, each meal had a strange after taste. I can't describe it any better than that, just a strange taste. I wanted so badly to love it. The broccoli was very fresh and I enjoyed that. I've been going to Pei Wei for many years. They used to have 6 or 7 woks going cooking all the food and you could taste that. What I got yesterday, really tasted like a prepackaged meal, I guess that is the best way to describe. I'm a big fan of PF Chang's and I thought Pei Wei was an extension of PF, maybe not anymore? That was $47...
Read moreI was very disappointed in my last visit just a couple days ago. I made an order in advance so I could be there when it was ready and not have to wait too long, I even got there ten minutes later than the arranged time. I come in and they aren't busy at all, and my order wasn't even started. I thought it was an easy mistake so I waited... and waited for a total of 30 minutes just to wait longer because they missed the vegetables I added on online. And they still weren't busy. This was just one dish by itself and took close to 40 minutes. And i ordered a boba tea that was ready before the order but every time i checked with him if that was ready, he said he wouldnt give it to me until the dish was done but it was sitting there with ice melting the longer i waited. Very sad to see a fairly new restaraunt...
