I went to the Salata on University to pick up two salads this past Monday. While they were preparing them, I stepped away to the restroom. Both salads were ordered with chicken, and I was charged for it, but neither had any chicken when I got home.
I called the store, and the owner picked up. She was very apologetic and transferred me to the General Manager, Mia, to resolve the issue. Mia assured me she would refund the cost of the chicken, take my name down up front so I could come back for two new salads, and also credit us for the chicken. (Didn't happen) I appreciated that solution and felt it was fair.
Fast forward just a few days to Thursday, I followed up, and Mia acted as though none of that conversation ever happened. She claimed it was unlikely they forgot the chicken and dismissed my concern. Essentially, she implied I was lying about two missing portions of chicken. That was both disappointing and insulting.
I love Salata and regularly go to the location on FM 2499 and Loop 288, where the service is consistently good. But after this experience, I will not step foot in the University location again. A good GM should never call a customer a liar over such a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe food was good. The quality was good. The portions were generous. The only reason I'm reducing my rating by one star is the price. At the front of the store, the price is stated at roughly $10 per salad, but if you want any protein at all, you are going to pay a lot more. After taxes and such, we came out at about $20 per person. I'm sorry, that's too much. We had all you can eat Gen Korean BBQ yesterday for that same price. This isn't worth the same. If the salad included the protein for that price as the sign implies, then the meal would be fairly priced. I would be glad to pay $12 for a full salad after tax, and I may come in now and then if it were $14. But $20? I have better options. Oh, and don't ask me for a tip if you aren't a waiter or waitress. Please pay your people better if...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis was our second visit. The food is good, very fresh, and as others report, the portions are very generous. I was treated to lunch by someone else and later learned that for 3 people/3 salads and drinks, the check came to $70.00. It was not until we discussed it that we sat down and really looked at the ticket. There was a $9.98 tip added to the ticket that the person paying did not personally add to the bill. We're not sure what that tip was supposed to cover, since the salad is built cafeteria style; 3 different people contributed to our salads. We got our own utensils and drinks and took our food to the table from the cash register. Customers are expected to bus their own table. Aren't tips supposed to be for service? Don't think we'll...
