I hate the idea of hurting a business or impacting their ratings in a negative way, but the service my husband and I received this evening was very upsetting.
In all fairness, it was an extremely busy night as there was a convention going on at the hotel. I definitely understand being busy, although I would’ve preferred to have been told they could not accommodate us rather than spending an hour and a half in the restaurant and only seeing our waiter a total of 4 times and receive the service we did.
We ordered drinks upon arrival, which came out fairly quickly. From here, we waited 40 minutes to have the opportunity to put in our food order. The appetizers took 20 minutes to come out, which resulted in them arriving the same time as our entrees. At this point, we put in another drink order as we didn’t know when we’d see our waiter again, and to our dismay, the drinks never arrived. Another 20 minutes went by when our waiter came by and let us know the drinks had never been made.
At this point, I requested to just receive our check so we could leave. I am not a confrontational person in the slightest, and even having to cancel our drink order made me very uncomfortable. He then returned a few minutes later, with no check in hand, to let us know the drinks are now ready if we’d like them still. At this point, I attempted to express my disappointment in the service to which I was cut off and told it was very busy and he’d get the check. I understand not wanting to have a discussion on the matter, but my husband and I were obviously very upset.
We paid and left, and shortly after arriving to the car I decided to go back inside as I did not want to have to leave a review and wanted to give the manager an opportunity to hear what happened from me directly rather than hearing about it in a review.
I returned to the restaurant and asked for the manager, explained what happened, and was told “well you did come in during the height of this craziness.” I then decided to just stop explaining myself and give him a moment to offer some sort of apology or some fix for the issues we had, but instead, he reached into his pocket and gave me a free dessert and appetizer for “next time”.
The food here is typically amazing, and we frequent here for birthday celebrations, but we will not be back after this. I really hoped the manager would have something to say/do other than disregard our experience by essentially saying we shouldn’t have come in whilst it was busy and give us a free dessert and appetizer to a restaurant we will not be back to after...
Read moreSadly, I have to give a low rating and I gave it 2 visits in 1 one week. So, the first visit I ordered the $10 happy hour wings and it came with only 5 wings. I was told that the wings were weighted. After I noticed the serving size, I inquired about the regular menu sized wing order and was told that they come with between 8-10 wings and also weighed. Side note: There is no mention of weight on the menu, just a large calorie range for the serving. I had a kind bartender and a good drink, so I let it go. I returned 2 days later during lunch and ordered the appetizer sized wings priced at $15.99 and a lunch special drink which was listed on the website for $7. My order of wings came out and it was literally only 7 wings on my plate. I declined to eat them in preparation to send the order back and brought this to the attention of the bartender. I opted not to touch the wings because certainly I was not going to pay $16 for 7 wings. That’s just ludicrous. The bartender stated that she’d add more wings to the order, and she did. 4 more wings came out which totaled 11. I appreciated the fix. I then went to tab out and noticed that I’d been charged $9.50 for the drink I’d ordered. Geez. I again mentioned this and the bartender called manager to come out. He asked that I show him the price listing on the website and I had to show proof that the website indeed advertised $7 drinks before it was credited. I mentioned the happy hour wing order and he stated that the order usually comes with 6 wings. So, I had indeed been shorted on my order on my first visit. I’d like to give grace and the benefit of the doubt, however it’s hard to feel as if they weren’t trying to get over. First with the short order of wings both visits, but also not recognizing that I’d come in during lunch time and was charged regular price for a drink. I was literally the only person in the restaurant at the time and this was totally unacceptable. The manager added a 5% discount for the wing mishap, but to think that this was not done intentionally is kinda far fetched. I don’t like feeling cheated and lied to. And even worse, the drink was more of a sour mix than anything else. Let’s do better folks. I know it’s hard times, but Houlihan’s is a corporation that depends on the people. Not to mention, there’s now only 1 in all of Texas. Don’t skimp on your customers. You have a prime location, in a hotel. That’s more than enough to be...
Read moreAbsolutely one of the worst experiences at any type of restaurant.
Let’s start off by walking in. Sign with an arrow pointing to where to stand and wait to be seated. Notice about three tables in the whole place with customers and maybe a few at the bar. Well, I should have known when my family and I stood at that stand for 8 minutes while the staff looked at us and walked away that this wasn’t going to be a good experience.
Waitress came out of the gate hot once seated. Drink order taken and off to the races. Orders placed and drinks delivered.
At this point I’m thinking that I could overlook the wait time to be seated. But this is where it all went DOWNHILL.
20 mins passed, drinks empty and no sight of the waitress. Wife goes to the bar and ask if our request for drinks had even been put in, they had not. So the bartender made the requested drinks and brought them to our table. Still, no sign of our waitress. Well, by now, the children’s drinks were empty too. So they both go to the bar and have their sodas refilled.
Prob another 10 to 15 mins goes by and here comes our food. YIKES! We should have just stopped at the drinks. Waitress finally came over with our food and asked if we needed anything else. I explained to her that we did not because we already refilled all of our own drinks at the bar, her response? GREAT, thanks! And walks off.
Flatbread pizza, nachos, queso chips, chicken tenders… horrible. Barely warm at BEST. Microwaved and flavorless. 15 year old that will LITERALLY eat anything, took three bites and refused.
Couldn’t take it any longer and asked to speak with a manager on this ticket that was $90. Explained everything, he offered to comp our meal, explained that was not needed, he ended up doing 50% discount but should have just comped the entire ticket, except the drinks, they were the only good thing. Then, to wrap it all up, the horrible waitress comes with the check and says, sorry about everything with no care, hands my check and walks off.
Will NEVER return to this place and this is probably a good reason why on a Sunday evening with other parking lots full, this restaurant was EMPTY. Mark my words, it will not be open very long. I honestly hope this is one of the most viewed reviews and people...
