My parents were residents of The Vista from May-December 2023. My mother passed in November 2023 and, due to my father attending to personal affairs at my parents' primary residence in NY, I assisted with clearing their apartment at The Vista.
I had the unpleasant misfortune of interacting with Christa B., The Vista's Business Manager, on two occasions. Upon introducing myself, Christa's lack of professionalism while representing The Vista was clear from the start when she couldn't even be bothered to stand up, shake my hand, and formally introduce herself. While requesting clarification on a few details, Christa appeared annoyed with my straightforward inquiries and bluntly answered questions with minimal voice inflection.
My second interaction with Christa was even more unpleasant. Upon walking into the lobby, Christa was outside of her office engaged with a few colleagues. As I approached her to ask additional questions about the move out process, she once again seemed as if she didn't want to be bothered with answering seemingly simple inquiries. She went so far as to physically turn her back and walk away from the conversation. My wife, who was approximately 15 feet away from me, sensed my frustration with being treated so disrespectfully and called for me to step away. Christa's response of not wanting "a scene" in the lobby deflected her own accountability and poor handling of the situation while simultaneously invalidating my pertinent questions.
Multiple members of my family concluded that Christa was cold-hearted. In both of my interactions, she appeared to have what could be best described as a scowl and couldn't even feign a smile. My father confirmed these feelings by noting how Christa lacked empathy and how, on at least one occasion, he even witnessed Christa's poor interaction with a member of The Vista's maintenance team. Christa's lack of emotional intelligence (ex., empathy, social skills) negatively impacted interactions with our family.
In stark contrast, Brooke and Bethany were absolutely superb. Whenever I would walk into the lobby, Brooke went out of her way to smile and give a warm welcome. My father raved about Brooke's professionalism. Similarly, Bethany was also delightful. Her genuine concern and empathy for my father's situation was evident in every interaction. Brooke and Bethany should both be commended by The Vista's leadership team for exemplary resident engagement and partnering with us to streamline the move out process during such trying times.
Despite Brooke and Bethany, four stars were removed from this review due to Christa's cold-heartedness. In light of my mother's passing, Christa's lack of grace and compassion only made the situation worse for our family. Her behavior is simply not how you treat people or conduct business. The Vista should not have Christa outwardly representing their community. Due to her behavior, my family cannot recommend The Vista to potential residents.
Follow-up: I called the number provided by The Vista in their response to my initial review. Due to Christa answering, I requested to speak to someone else besides her. I was advised that I would receive a call back from another manager. As of 10 business days later, I have yet to receive that...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIāve lived here since shortly after the facility was open. About two years. The staff here is tremendous. They are very friendly and helpful. Like any new facility there are issues, like flooding yards after heavy rains, this is still an issue that needs addressed. Maintenance people are fantastic. They do a great job. Very friendly and efficient. Building is in tiptop shape, and the grounds are well maintained. The residents here are great people, very friendly and helpful as well as accommodating. There are a lot of amenities and activities to do here. Such as games every night, taco Tuesdays, and potluck dinners put on by the residence, always a fantastic meal and great fellowship. Thereās a game room and theater room where I love to watch golf on the big screen. We have a great big pool, only 4 1/2 feet, and a therapy pool, two outdoor TVs and two gas grills for cooking out which is great. You can dip in the pool between Flipping burgers. Iāve currently moved and will up date this review after we get our deposit back. Iāve learned that holes in walls or a stain on the carpet will cost you BIG !! ( From another resident) The lease does say normal...
