After talking with some others and seeing other reviews and discussing with others who've been I felt I should leave an honest review because it feels the reviews are only coming from particular clientele so we felt it was important to share a different perspective. Firstly, I see why this place has become quickly loved! The atmosphere is divine and the staff is wonderfully kind, the owners clearly put a lot of work into everything and we by no means mean to take away from that with this review, we just felt we should leave this for others to have a full picture. We 100% understand the economy we are in and why prices are the way they are, but it was disheartening that one muffin, one small plain black coffee, and one small iced latte came up to as much as it did. We've placed the same order elsewhere for a more reasonable price, and unfortunately the prices here priced us out of enjoying the rest of the menu. I got the toffee iced latte in the smallest size offered, but didn't taste any flavoring at all it was just a regular iced coffee I could get anywhere in my opinion, and of course when the cup is mostly ice anyway since it's iced coffee it was disappointing. My partner got a small plain black coffee, he likes it just straight black, it was so bad we actually left half the mug :( It's the first time I've ever seen him not finish a coffee in the entire duration of our relationship, or anywhere we've ever ate :( I asked him what was wrong because he made a face after the first sip and that's very much not like him. He said he's unsure if it was the water or if it was over brewed perhaps but I told him not to finish it after he was trying to be polite and drink it :( We also noticed there's no pricing on the menu for the coffee, I understand why that is now when we paid, I think I woulda skipped my latte if I did see that ahead of time. However, the banana nut muffin was the best I've ever had! That was delicious. We're sorry we didn't get to try the food but it was quickly understood this place isn't for all of Denton as most Dentonites couldn't afford this, but rather more for those who are comfortable and used to paying Barley and Board/Hannah's type prices. It would have to be a special occasion for us if we did consider going back in the future :(
Also the ordering system maybe isn't the best, unfortunately people don't sit and read the menu before ordering and do that in line instead so it creates some traffic/extra standing waiting time just due to those people, making that area a little crowded at times.
We see why people like it but for us its another resturaunt in Denton that for a different tax bracket than us :(
We certainly don't mean to discourage anyone from going by any means, we just hope it helps people be more informed before going because we werent with the...
Read moreThis was our first time going here. We were really looking forward to it based on reviews and menu. We were so incredibly disappointed. The place itself is really cute inside. We did get it to go. Their to-go packaging is good. We spent over $50 and got:
2 specialty coffees Potato breakfast burrito Strawberry crepes Greek salad
None of the above were worth half of what we paid.
On the mocha, we asked for half the amount of mocha to be added. They informed us it's a powder so not sure if they could do that. News flash: they didn't do it, and it was sickeningly sweet. On the other drink, it was supposed to be hot. Came iced. These things also factor into the customer service. Potato breakfast burrito - this was a huge serving and pretty decent; not overly flavorful but pretty good..and a large serving. I don't even like salt but these people need to find a salt shaker. BUT.....The salsa was revolting. I do mean revolting. I think it may have been spoiled revolting. Also, instead of the chips, they let us know we could sub a side, so we opted for fruit. They didn't let us know until we paid, there was a $2 up-charge for that. I don't have a problem with the up-charge; I do have a problem with not being told that when making the sub, especially since we weren't originally going to even sub. Crepes - did they cook these? No, I think not. They were so underdone...like raw dough.... and ... wet? They were overfilled with cream cheese....way too much and there were literally 8 small strawberry SLICES (so maybe 2-3 whole strawberries if being generous) on the crepes. The strawberries were in a water liquid making the underdone crepe itself even wetter than they already were from being basically raw. These were $2 crepes at best...being generous, since they weren't actually edible since they were raw. This is not what you expect from a $10 crepe entree. Greek Salad - a HUGE amount of cheap iceberg lettuce (it was fresh), and maybe 2 cucumber slices, 6 kalamata olives (that's the good part) and 3 cherry tomatoes and really bad fake feta cheese. This was more of a side salad you would get from a fast food place, not what you expect when ordering a main salad. And again, they tried to up-sell by asking if we wanted to add chicken, but not offering a price for the up-sell. We had to ask ($6). If you are going to up-sell, offer the price of your up-sell.
Overall, the concept is good, the menu looks great, but the execution is so, so bad. I am so confused by all these glowing reviews. Have people just not had good food, or are they just swayed by the really cute interior and the concept of what this SHOULD be (but...
Read moreUPDATE 8/25/25: Well, the "honeymoon" is over! After our first impression, we decided to visit the restaurant two more times (three in total, counting when my wife took our two daughters for their first visit). Unfortunately, all three times the service was pretty bad, and I mean, BAD!
From servers not showing up to take the order (saying, "Oops! No one told me I had a table to attend..."), to servers not showing up to deliver what we requested—it was a mess. Simple things like ketchup became an ordeal: they seem to keep jars either empty or nearly empty, just enough to frustrate you when you want to dip your potatoes. I even had to get up, go to another table, and grab a ketchup bottle myself. Asking for extra milk for coffee took about 10–15 minutes to arrive—without exaggeration—even though the restaurant wasn’t busy at all!
When we asked the "manager" for help, she simply went to find the server and reminded her of our request, but we still had to wait far too long. In fact, my wife ended up asking another passing server, who kindly brought what we needed in less than three minutes.
Maybe we were just unlucky on these three visits, but it really seems like there’s a pattern: food arriving oversalted, cold, or not arriving at all. That said, don’t get me wrong—when a meal is delivered as it should be, it’s delicious! The one thing that has been consistently good is their coffee. I’m a big fan of the Café de Natalia—what a delight!
I really hope they work on training their staff (servers/management) for all of them to work collectively to ensure the satisfaction of their customers. I will still give them one more chance, that coffee is calling my name, but having to drive 20-25 minutes makes me wonder if it is worth it, I honestly think it is, so, L'Amitié, you'll get one more chance from me.
Wuau!!! This place has it!!! The food! The atmosphere! And the service!! I had the Breakfast Mexicana (pretty much like migas), and my wife got the crepes with eggs and ham, and let me tell you, the taste of freshness is evident! We accompanied it with the specialty coffee "Natalie," and one wasn't enough, i had to have a second one. The plase is welcoming and cozy. Definitely a MUST go and a MUST come back to try...
