I decided to give this restaurant to try, since it was right next door to the hotel where I was staying. From the very second. I walk into the door, I was loving. Everything about this place, and make sure to tell them so. The people who work hard and bless people with good manners--you know, the type that most older people will tell you do not exist anymore--were on full display, here. The cute, spectacled teenaged hostess took my name down on a waiting list, as the place was very busy. In less than five minutes, she was seating me in less than five minutes, spraying and wiping the table down in front of me (because she obviously was trying so hard to do a good job, I didn't tell her that she actually sprayed ME along with the table), and wished me a good night. The place was already alright with me. Then, enters the waitress.
Diamond--who gave me permission to use her name--quickly made her way to my table, offering me a drink to enjoy as I looked the menu. She addressed me as "sir," but clearly MEANT it. I must admit that this shocked me, as we are now living in a time when that is most certainly a rarity. Her swift, pleasant, attentive and accurate service was impressive enough, but then came the kicker: her consistency.
I took a few moments here and there to notice that she was managing approximately a dozen tables area with the same attention that left my table cleared of used dishes, and my drink filled. This young woman had now raised my eyebrows so high that they could have replaced the hairline I once had when I was her age. As I night went on, I only noticed one sour face among all the employees that I saw--and he wisely contained his issue well enough that the great atmosphere remained intact.
I had made up my mind: I was going to find the manager and tell him how impressed I was with this entire experience. When this man gave me the type of great handshake usually possessed only by farmers, woodsmen, truck drivers and marines, I told him to expect a "slammin" review (I must apologize for getting it here so late, but here it is). I loved the proud smile he flashed when he told me that Diamond is "one of the stars" of that restaurant. I can certainly see--and hear--why. She has certainly earned it!
I have always implored my music students to remember they will certainly master whatever it is that they practice, be it good or bad. As I walked back to leave Diamond's tip, I smiled to myself as I wondered how many untold thousands have benefitted from what this crew has been practicing; a stimulating thought, indeed. As I walked back to my hotel, my belly and spirit both filled, I was quite grateful for the opportunity to bless them with encouraging feedback. Next time I am in Denton, you know...
Read moreMy family and I love OTB! It is seriously our fave! Well...in Wichita Falls anyways. Visited the OTB in Denton, Tx @ 2829 S. Interstate 35E this evening and will never return here again. So yes we are particular people who make changes to the menu options. My husband asked the server if he could get nachos with lettuce and tomatoes and she said yes so he ordered it. 1 child ordered child tacos. The server seemed pleasant and accommodating. We were never rude and smiled every time she returned to the table. We used manners and said please and thank you. My husbands order came out without the things he requested and had to be returned to the kitchen. When it came back out it had jalapeño slices with carrots!! Eww. Our other child ordered kids nachos (cheese only) and that came out with meat and beans (we all know how picky kids can be) and had to be returned as well. I got a 2 sauce burrito with shredded beef and it came out with both sauces mixed instead of 1 side with 1 sauce and vice versa. I didn't complain about that or the fact that the meat inside was hard as a rock and could barely be chewed. I had 3 bites and called it quits. The taco meat on 2 of the plates tasted funny. Seriously had a sweet taste to it! We didn't say anything until she ran our card for payment. We didn't want anyone thinking that they needed to alter our ticket. So we tell the server about the meat tasting funny and she got defensive. We just thanked her and went to use the restroom before we left. And yes...we tipped! 11%. She looks straight at us, rolled her eyes, snarled her lips and then turned her head away from us. So rude. So Virginia, thanks for crappie ending to the crappyear meal. Should have went ahead and drove back home to Wichita Falls to eat at their amazing establishment! Never had a bad experience...
Read moreI usually do not ever review restaurants, I’ve worked in multiple and know the stress. But I used to love to order from here. Honestly the guy that works the to go counter, is so kind to you. But if you order Uber Eats, the managers do NOT care to help you, let alone speak to you. I ordered chicken fajitas, Uber Eats app messed that up (stupid technology, I get it) and put portobello. Cool. I asked for the veggies to be cooked until soft. What I got was an order of veggies so charred black it matches the to go container. I called the Denton location and the to go guy (again. Super kind) spoke to me about how the managers are saying it’s not their problem it’s uber eats. So I asked kindly to speak to a manager due to it’s not his problem, it’s theirs. His reply to me was that if I “really wanna talk to a manager then I can’t stop you but they’ll say the same thing I did.” So basically I have burnt food that I won’t even be eating and no ‘hey I’m sorry we will talk to our people’ from the manager. Just a basic sorry not sorry answer from one of their workers on the managers behalf???? Honestly lost my temper and said I’d go ahead and write this review instead. But when you send a worker when I specifically asked for a manager, this happens. Absolutely disappointed in this location. If I could upload pics I would. Don’t order anything to be “cooked longer, so the veggies are soft,” unless you want it charcoal with no communication from management. Dine in,...
