I eat a lot of BBQ - I also smoked a lot of BBQ myself. Rudy's BBQ is one of the places I regularly go too, mostly due to their consistency and never failing to be good! Rudy's is a chain restaurant but their prices are decent and their BBQ is consistently above average. Of course I have had better but if you want a decent BBQ meal for a price that matches the quality and you want it consistently, this is the place for you! This time around I got the lean sliced brisket and jalapeno sausage. The service was quick and friendly, no complaints and it's always been that way. The jalapeno sausage was really good, the skin was a little tough and I would have preferred more moisture but overall excellent taste. The brisket - the brisket was good. There was a good smoke ring as always and you can smell the smoke as you walk up to the restaurant. The brisket was just a tad dry, and lack some flavor but was cooked perfectly. The BBQ sauce is one of my favorites and I even have some in my fridge at home this very moment. The sauce is sweet and has a little kick of spice, I absolutely love this stuff. Where this place gets a homerun is again their ability to put out good to excellent BBQ consistently and never letting you down for the price you pay. I will be going back to this place in the future until it starts to fail me. Overall it's an great BBQ joint - much better then some of its competitors around that area but still not the best in the DFW metroplex.

FANTASTIC SERVICE! I was met at the front door, by a smiling cashier in the gift shop, quick pickup area. I told her that I had never been there. She explained how the menus had changed a little because of Covid. She also shared her personal favorite menu item: Green Chili Stew. Went to the next counter and ordered. More great service. Employees walking by said hi before the cashier took my order. We ordered 2 chopped sandwiches and a small Green Chili Stew to go. Sandwiches were generous and had great flavor! Rudy’s offers 2 different sauces on the side, Original and “Sissy Sauce”. On a spice level, I top out at about a 3 out of 10. Tried and loved the Original, it’s nearly a perfect sauce just a touch sweet for me but has a nice kick. But to be fair to Sissy Sauce, I saved the last few bites of my sandwich to test Sissy. No bite and FULL OF FLAVOR. As for the Green Chili Stew... she did not say it was her favorite without merit. The biggest problem with the stew however, eat it with a fork or a spoon! It is very hearty. Think entree not side. It would be worth the trip just to get the stew. I do disagree with $$ rating. Very reasonable. High quality and flavorful food delivered in a spacious, clean restaurant. (They should put more pickle slices in the To Go cups. I grabbed 3! Oh, and they do not have okra.)

I've eaten here a couple time now and Rudy's has been consistently flavorless. The brisket I had today was awful. I couldn't taste a hint of wood smoke or seasoning on it, it makes me wonder if it's smoked at all. From the texture and flavor it'd make more sense if their brisket is steam-cooked instead of what they advertise. Real Texas BBQ is often post-oak smoked and heavy on the peppercorn, keeping it simple and bringing out the flavors in the meat. Rudy's seems intent on eliminating flavor instead of enhancing it. I don't think Rudy's has any credence claiming to serve "Real Texas Bar-B-Q" with flavorless meats. Pellet smokers give more flavor to brisket than whatever they're using here, let alone a real wood smoker. The turkey is average, perhaps a little below average, and the sausage is fine. That being said, it's pretty impossible to screw up sausage. Their side dishes aren't necessarily good or bad, and about the only thing they do well is make BBQ sauce. The sauce is decent, and they clearly take pride in it because you'd have to drown your meal in "sause" to make it palatable.

No to go section. I shouldn't have to wait in long line with people eating at the restaurant when I just want to go order. I was just there 11:40 am. On Wednesday. If you people don't understand that. Well I can go elsewhere. That make No sense. Get a Togo section. Also wipe that smirk off workers faces when they feel it's funny for people to wait in line. Forget about it. First of all I went to the area near the entrance the young lady there stated she could take my order but I STILL would have to wait in the long line. Most companies now are up to date they have Phone in orders, Web orders where you can pick them up at the "To Go" area, or you can place an order at the "To Go " area. You don't seem to understand They will take your order but you have to still wait in line to pay that's why I left. I don't have to eat there or be forced to wait. If people don't care about time and they want to wait then fine. But if you have stuff to do you just want to pick up your order or place an order in the "To Go" area it should only take no more than 10 to 17 minutes. But that was not the case your To Go service is a FAIL. Also I don't have time to keep writing you. Run your camera back and study your business. Plus you already know you have a TERRIBLE system set up for "To Go" orders. One can place a "To Go" order when they are in that area of the entrance for store, but you stilll have to wait in line. Other places I place the order or call it in. I go pick it up and pay right there. I don't get in a long line and then pay. That is ...
