Some people suffer from a severe intolerance, not to gluten, but to not getting their way. They walk into a bar that’s been doing its thing for decades and see a clearly posted sign that says, “No substitutions! No modifications!”… and still decide they are the exception.
If you're coming to a legendary Denver spot like this, take a deep breath, read the room, and understand that the world doesn’t bend just because you asked nicely. If the first impression didn’t go your way, maybe try a mirror before the keyboard.
This isn’t a build-your-own fantasy café. It’s a get-what-you-get, sit-down-and-enjoy-it kind of place. The staff keeps it honest, the regulars like it that way, and the vibe is sacred precisely because it doesn’t try to please everyone.
So here’s a thought: before turning a no-frills neighborhood bar into your tasting room, take a moment to realize that not every space is here to cater to you. If that’s a tricky concept, no worries. There’s always a cocktail lounge down the block, happy to charge double to reassure you that you’re special, cater to your mood boards, and validate...
Read moreBeen here a few times and it was fine but had an experience with this one girl last night who was rude and confrontational because people in our group were “loud” at a bar having fun pause or whatever the name, then confronted a second time since I was there over a miscommunication she should’ve butted out of in the first place and me and my boyfriend clapped back at her rightfully so cause she can’t handle her anger. Then the bartender some blonde girl came out and was acting as if it was our fault because we gave her back the same energy she gave that night and took her side knowing no context. Our group were full of good people who didn’t deserve that treatment because the bartender can’t handle the idea her friend being rude for no good reason. And looking at the reviews seems like the bar has a problem with criticism so who knows they seem to be living in a shadow of what they use to be and maybe John taffer can come save them lol. Green tea and dumb b shot was amazing...
Read moreUsed to love coming here, but was disappointed by my last visit. There were two gentlemen who were obviously inebriated (maybe not just on alcohol) and one of whom inappropriately grabbed several of my friend's asses... on multiple occasions. We eventually got fed up after asking him to stop and caused a ruckus. The bartender (who was also clearly intoxicated) kicked him out. Great! That's what should've happened. His friend stuck around. Took more shots, and proceeded to do the exact same thing to us! Not only did he not get kicked out, but the bartender continued to serve him. AND here's the real kicker. ..The friend who did got kicked out? He pranced back in 45 minutes later with no acknowledgement of what he'd done by him, the bouncer, or the bartender. We promptly left and will likely never return. To see such a mismanagement of a bar, as well as setting the expectation for patrons that you can get away with that kind of behavior is...
