I really want to warn everybody about trusting this predatory and shady business. They will gouge you for money at any opportunity because they have business expenses that they sneakily pass onto their customers, like "complimentary champagne". I called the business yesterday afternoon to schedule a free consulation with a stylist. I mentioned considering coloring, perming, or cutting my hair but wanted help deciding in the free consultation. The girl on the phone, Caitlyn (not sure on spelling), made it a point to mention the pricing on some of these services. 3 hours of color work wouldv'e been around $350 just in labor, the cut would've been $80 for longer hair, and then I'd have had to pay for all of the product used. I felt comfortable moving forward with the free consultation to figure out what my plan for my hair is. After sleeping on it, though, I couldn't help but feel that the prices Caitlyn mentioned were steep. I decided that I wanted to shop around and to call and cancel my free consultation. When I called, Caitlyn answered and told me that if I cancelled, I would be charged 50% for my booked services. This confused me because I had only set up one appointment with Caitlyn, and it was the free consultation. I asked her what she was talking about because I never booked any other services and she told me that she did book me for services but "the times weren't communicated." She continued to argue that I had mentioned wanting to get specific services done and that she set aside time for those services to be done sometime after my consultation. I told her the point of the consultation was to decide what services I would even want, if any, and that i would not be paying 50% service cancellation for bookings that Caitlyn allegedly made on her own volition, off paper, and without my knowledge. I could tell that she wanted to pidgeonhole me into either paying pricy service cancellation fees or going through with the services I never scheduled, but after enough back and forth she said, "Okay, well I'm still going to have to charge you a $20 cancellation fee." I asked, "For the free consultation?" And she said yes, explaining it's the studio's policy. So basically, I could go into the consulation despite what they were clearly trying to pull on me, and not have to pay for the consulation, or I would be charged $20 dollars not to deal with the tense situation in person. I decided to skip the tension and take the ridiculous $20 cancellation fee for the free consultation. I was hoping that this would've been the end of the nightmare that giving this unprofessional studio my business caused. About half an hour later, I got a call from Caitlyn at the studio asking if I would be coming to my consultation. I told her I wasn't going to the consultation and she AGAIN tried to tell me that I would need to pay for 50% of the service bookings. I was audibly frustrated and told her that I was absolutely not going to pay her for these allegedly booked services that I never scheduled. She finally took it upon herself to put me on hold and speak to her higher ups about how to handle the escalating situation. When she came back, she told me "this one time" they would wave the 50% service fees and would only charge me the $20 cancellation/no show fee for the free consulation. To those who don't know, they charge these cancellation fees by keeping your card info in their systems, so they can blindside you with nonnegotiable fees if God forbid something comes up in your life or you change your mind. Needless to say, this was the last $20 this manipulative business will ever get from me and my friends, and I hope that sharing my experience with this place helps people seek out more trustworthy...
Read moreI followed Jayci from another studio because of her professional and talent. This place is perfect for her and me. Great friendly staff, very accommodating too.
Update: I have been coming to see Jayci for years now and was so happy when she moved to A Collective Studio. Everyone there is as friendly as they are professional. From being greeted as the front desk, to the owner Andrea calling and leaving lovely vm appt reminders, Kenley and his warm smile and welcome, Ashley and her wrap around customer service, Nikki and how she made my daughter fall in love on her first nail appt and of course most importantly, Jayci and her free therapy ;-) along with great cuts for my daughter and me. I had the best experience this past weekend when I took my 6 yr old princess in for an up-do with color and pedi with mani. Jayci turned this already beautiful princess into even more of a show stopper for our Daddy/Daughter ball. With a multi-colored rose woven into her hair she was easily the hit of the ball. And Nikki pampered her with her first pedi and mani, she of course loves Nikki now. All of the staff here at A Collective Studio are as lovely as they are capable of giving you exactly what you had in mind when you came in a said "do your best to make...
Read moreCalled to confirm our appointment today and they said they didn’t make the reservation and they couldn’t find the appointment.. then they call me at the time of my appointment asking if I’m showing up.? I told them you guys canceled or somehow mysteriously lost the reservation we had scheduled and since we’re on the phone I’d appreciate it if you don’t charge my card. They immediately snapped back into reality and said we actually do have your appointment we found it! But since you cancelled we’ll have to charge your card half the deposit.. LOL they are a bunch of incompetent scammers. I immediately scheduled somewhere else for more money since you get what you pay for.. they’ll probably comment below about how they sent a email or text yesterday or early morning today lol. I always go to salons and bring friends with me as well, stuff always happens and sometimes the stylist changes or cancels reservation. For this specific reason, I called exactly an hour beforehand to confirm and they told me no. Your “texts” and “emails” don’t matter when you tell me no an hour beforehand.. I’d love to see what you have to...
