We joined some friends for a going away party at the Blackbird Public House. This was my first time, and I was very impressed! I also enjoy their sister restaurants, Atticus and Rosedale. The location is very centrally located in the Denver metro area, being in the heart of Wash Park. There is a small parking lot in front of the restaurant, but we had to find parking on a side street. Reservations are available via OpenTable table for parties of 6 and smaller. The ambience is laid-back, a typical Colorado New American Pub style, with images of blackbirds everywhere. The friend that invited us wanted to get oysters. They have a great special on Tuesdays, Sundays and during happy hour. However, even at full price the oysters we're not badly priced ($1.75-$2.25 per oyster). We had the East Coast and the West Coast offerings. Both were really good. However we ended up liking the East Coast a little better. The oysters come with lemon slices, horseradish cocktail, and a vinaigrette. Since Bob doesn't care for seafood, we also ordered the brussel sprouts appetizer for the table to share. They were good. Bob loved them! They were cooked al dente, which he really liked. Being that it was Wednesday, and the special was all-you-can-eat wings and $3 off local whiskeys. I tried a Colorado whiskey and the wings. I decided to get my wings naked (the sauces on the side). I tried the Carolina Gold, which was a spicy honey mustard. I also tried the PB&J, which was very much like peanut butter and jelly. The naked wings were really good on their own, very smoky. They are truly unlimited, but there is no sharing allowed. Bob tried the barbecue chicken pizza. It was amazing! Probably one of the best barbecue chicken pizzas we've ever had. I can't wait to go back and try different pizzas there. Heather got the Public House Burger. It was very tasty and she chose the side of truffle fries. To be honest, the truffle fries at Park Burger are better. One of our friends had the tuna poke appetizer as her entree, and she said she liked it. Another friend had the falafel. He said that the naan was a little undercooked. We were too stuffed to try any desserts. Overall, I was very impressed. I am anxious to return. We had visited The Hornet in the same week, and this is hands-down a much better restaurant.

Why is this place not packed??? The food is fabulous, the wait staff is fantastic, and the atmosphere is lovely. And I didn't even mention the bottomless mimosas! Staffing issues - not lack of patrons - seems to be the issue at this time (10/9/21). How unfortunate. Nathan was our wait staff at first. He was personable and knowledgeable. Madonna brought us our food and cashed us out. She was pleasant and efficient. Our food was made to order, took a little extra time, and was delicious. Husband had the basic breakfast: 2 scrambled eggs, hash browns, bacon and toast. I had this, too, but with 2 eggs over easy (they were over hard), gluten free bread, and fruit (thinly sliced apple slices) instead of hash browns. We both agreed that all was delicious (even if my eggs were prepared incorrectly). Young niece had waffles, bacon, and fruit. She loved it all. Mom niece had salmon poached eggs, gluten free bread and hash browns. Again, both enjoyed their meals. She and I had the mimosas (hers was a bottomless grapefruit and I only had one cranberry mimosa). The total bill was $108 - $17 for the bottomless grapefruit mimosa and $2 extra for each of us getting the gluten free bread. It was also more expensive for á la carte items for young niece. It was worth it. Didn’t need lunch since this breakfast filled us up!

Spur of the moment drive by dining choice. Pub feel with comfortable seats and very friendly staff. Just went for the food and picked the Bird Sandwich and the Shrimp poboy. Fries are salty perfectly cooked and stand on their own with nothing more required. The bird sandwich is pretty large and ordered as is has slaw, remoulade and the standard lettuce tomato additions. The chicken is a weak spot but in the sandwich it's perfect. Each bite is a great mix of savory, salty and sweet. Plenty of parking. Service was great. They had a party of 45 in front of us so it took a while but the manager/owner was great at keeping us in the loop. This is a solid place to eat and the pizzas going by will have me returning to try them. I didn't have any drinks so I'm eager to head back. Good food, good people, good place. Review two: ordered pizza for delivery. Went with a custom but it hit perfectly. Good crust, soft and well seasoned. Toppings were perfect. No complaints, it arrived on time and was as good as imagined

We're just done with this place. Brought family for brunch. Biscuits and gravy came cold. The gravy sauce was terrible. Waffles were limp, fried chicken was tough. The waitress didn't bother to refill any of our coffees. And didn't bother to check on us after our food was delivered. I paid for my service and didn't bother to complain. I did notify the server my food came out cold and she didn't bother to offer to make it right. We won't be coming back. Eating out has become too expensive with a practically mandated 20% tip these days to put up with poor value and terrible service. Updating my review is response to the Owner below. We indeed came back to check out the recent changes made in the kitchen. We were happy to see new items on the menu. We ordered the garden tacos and steak frites with a few drinks. Our meal quality, and presentation, was much improved! We're so happy to see some of the plates coming out of the kitchen. It's really nice to see the level of care ownership/management team has put into making these changes. We are happy to return and hope others decide to check it out as well! My husband and I have been coming here for at least five years or longer. Sadly the quality of food has been in decline since covid started. We try to come back every now and then bc we want to support our local restaurants. We often think, "hey maybe things are getting better" and every time we come back we are sorely disappointed.

This last experience, we received cold and undercooked steak frites, and cold mac & cheese which was missing the added topping that was requested and charged for, we drank water, and we paid $37 + tip for this unfortunate meal.

We do think this place has a nice environment to hang out and have a few drinks, but it really needs to get the kitchen/menu in order. We have never had issues with the wait staff or management. We have even purchased prepared thanksgiving meals that were wonderful two years ago.

The value however, is no longer here for us and we will not be coming back. We would gladly reconsider should we hear of a change in their kitchen operations to bring quality back...

Went here for brunch. I will say the cocktails are nice and fast. I think it’s to distract from everything else. It’s the slowest service I have ever experienced, even when the restaurant was so empty. We arrived at 10am with a reservation for 8 adults, 3 children. The table was set for 8 - no worries, easy fix. They did seem very confused though. They were quick to offer drinks - our entire party was not there yet (5/8 adults there on time or within 5m). After our party arrived (admittedly 15 & 20m late), it took another 20 minutes for them to come back around to the table. I need to reiterate - it was not busy. There were 2 other tables. There was, upon opening, I think 1 waitress, and the owner, who both were checking in. Around 11, I believe another waitress was added to staff. When the waitress checked in for drinks 20m after our last people arrived, we declared “awesome. We’re ready to order food” and placed more drink orders + food. The food took over an hour to come out. The drinks obviously came out rapidly as I believe it’s how they manage. At 45m we asked for a time estimate and were told we were the next ticket. At this point, there were 3 other groups in the restaurant. We are all very patient and nice, because over 1/2 of us have worked in the service industry, but y’all - come on. When the food came out, the salmon had multiple bones and scales, the children’s fruit cup had seeds in the cherries (we told the owner about this and he took the feedback very genially), and the food was generally not that good. Not awful, just very meh. It also came without any of the dressings, syrup, etc that were on the menu- we had to make an additional ask for that. Overall, for brunch, if you have excessive amounts of time for incredibly meh food, decent cocktails, and god awful service,...
