This used to be my favorite place to come and have some good sushi, teriyaki bowls and a few other dishes. I brought my daughter's a few days ago after about a year and I have to say that I am very disappointed and I will definitely not be coming back here. The food was tasteless, the sushi did not taste fresh, the service was horrible and the place looked completely outdated and it just didn't feel comfortable to have dinner there. We got there at 8:00 p.m. and the lady kept rushing us to order because the kitchen was going to close at 9:30 p.m., that was completely uncomfortable because we had more than enough time before the kitchen would close, on top of that they were bringing us some of our food and we waited for the rest of our food to get to our table but it took way longer so we started sharing our food and by the time the other food got to the table it just wasn't very enjoyable. I definitely do not recommend this place anymore. To the response from Fontana... You said there is no teriyaki but you have plenty of teriyaki, whether it is bowls or plates but you do have teriyaki and I do not have the wrong location. Thank you for taking the time to reply I just wish it would have been a smart response.

This place would totally get 5 stars if it wouldn’t be for the awful customer service. We waited for about 15 minutes at the front, as the front desk was empty. When we finally got a table, we waited for the waiter for about the same amount of time. The customer service is quite poor at this place. After we have finally ordered, we waited for the food for approximately 40 minutes… The service is very slow. This place is definitely not for a quick grab. Maybe it’s because we went on Christmas, but still. We were waiting for our tea for more than 40 minutes. Wait times are absolutely horrible. We came at 18:15 and we haven’t received anything until 19:13. We had to ask for everything several times. On a more positive note though, the menu has a lot of options, which is good. The sushi we tried were delicious, very fresh, had decent amount of flavor, sauces, spices, etc. The food is served well, the dishes look nice. Soups were good, but udon could use some more flavor, teriyaki salmon was pretty good, but they were out of seafood teriyaki. Weird for a Japanese spot. Overall, our experience was slightly clouded by the incompetent staff, but overall though, we enjoyed the time we spent at this spot.

We've tried all the other sushi restaurants in Denver, and Fontana is our favorite, hands down. The sushi is fresh, fresh, fresh--every time. Quality tunas, salmon, red snapper, etc., fresh micro greens and herbs and delicious ponzu and yuzu sauces, all with artistic designs on the platters. The special rolls with the seared garlic butter are particularly awesome. We like to sit at the bar and watch the sushi chefs prepare their creations, and all of the servers managers are professional and friendly. Don't let the storefront exterior on Alameda and simple interior fool you - the food is top notch and it will become your favorite too.

What could have been a great dinner and dining experience was completely ruined by poor service.

We sat down on a Friday night around 8pm and ordered a few different rolls. The waitress tried to upsell a bit but it wasn't very pushy and as a service person, I can respect the hustle. Rolls were great and the atmosphere was so nice so we decided to order another of our favorite roll from the first batch, mango/tuna roll. This is where the experience turned sour.

The waitress again tried to upsell and get us to do a sashimi chef's choice order which we declined. She brought out the roll and it was awful. The tuna was chewy, it was poorly put together and fell apart easily as you tried to pick it up. It was inedible and I don't understand how the same roll could vary that wildly in quality. As we were trying to eat this we noticed they are closing up and taking out trash so we left in a hurry because we thought they were staying open past their hours for us but as I now know, they close at 10 and this was around 9:15. It really felt like they served us a really poor roll because we wouldn't go for their upsells and because we kept them late, despite their closing hour that's listed on Google not being for another 45 minutes.

It was a really big bummer that the night ended that way because everything up until that point was good and it probably would have become a regular spot if it weren't for...
