El Zarape — Restaurant in Denver

Being a Native in Denver it is very difficult to find culture and good authentic food. So when me & mine came across this place we were excited. It started out good but like everything else it has fallen off in quality of food taste & portions. if I'm paying almost eleven $$.$$ for a plate (carry out) I then expect the portions to make sense in $$$... to portion ratio. The Chile on the Chile fries was extremely watery it was bland & there was barley any cheese, the fries were half cooked and soggy. The portion of a large Chile fry was the equivalent of a small fry. Such a large container was not necessary. This place gets tipped very well every time me & mine come here we spend no less than $70.00 every single time not including tip. The last time there was a dine-in I got the Colorado plate (breakfast with no eggs) They didn't even substitute it for extra chilie,rice or beans. (They still charged me full price for the plate) If you are going to charge gentrified prices up the portion sizes to justify the $$$.$$. Chile cheese fries are a Colorado staple to the already dwindling culture Chile fries should not taste so mid. This was one of my few favorite restaurants but I feel like I have been burnt one too many times. I spent a lot of money in this restaurant to feel cheated every time I come here. I will be divesting from this restaurant. It's very disappointing to think they have another location serving mid food for five...

This family owned restaurant is one of my got to favorites in the neighborhood. Its not so far out of the way from the new and upcoming Sloans Lake area. If your looking for a great Shrimp Cocktail this is the place. Every bite is filled with shrimp and savory flavors and ingredients. It is made with excellence and can be a huge meal within its self. The menu is very simple to read with pictures to tantalize your mexican favored taste buds! They also have a great deal on alcohol drinks that make your stay a tentatively enjoyable one. Children love their quesadillas and bean with cheese burritos. They are a for sure thing evey time! Everything I have tried on the menu is homemade and definitely fresh. Try the menudo it is a weekend favorite for many. Not much room on weekends for seating in or outside... so plan accordingly. Parking is not so large either. It is worth the up...

My daughter and I went for late lunch. I ordered the number 4 combination. Which included a chicharron burrito, taco, and enchilada. I received a bean burrito wirh chicharron so hard I could not eat them. There were old and completely dry. The burrito had little beans, whole beans with little beans and chile, the Spanish rice was dry and old I did not receive my taco and enchilada. I had to go to register to ask what happened. The waitress argued with me. Stating I only ordered burrito. The younger girl said she would fix it. I received a taco with old meat and no flavor, the enchilada sauce was hot and no flavor I had to wait Somebody in kitchen pounding on something noise was so loud.
