Absolutely Disgraceful Service – Ruined Our Valentine’s Day
If I could give zero stars, I would. My wife and I drove 15 minutes to this coffee shop based on positive reviews, expecting a pleasant experience. The place looked nice, was nearly empty, and had a seemingly full menu. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives ended.
This happened on Valentine’s Day, a day we had hoped to start on a good note. While deciding what to order, my wife asked the male barista a simple, completely reasonable question about the turkey sandwich—whether it came in one or two pieces, since we were considering ordering avocado toast as well. His response? Rolling his eyes and rudely snapping, “It’s a sandwich, what kind of question is that?" - as if a paying customer simply asking about the menu was some kind of offense.
At this point, we were the only people in line, yet he continued making something without acknowledging us, leaving us standing there awkwardly. His body language was just as rude and unprofessional—exaggerated sighs, avoiding eye contact, and acting as if serving us was an unbearable chore. My wife was visibly upset by his behavior, and frankly, I could tell she wanted to leave.
When he finally decided to acknowledge our existence, I calmly asked if he was having a bad day—giving him an opportunity to explain or at least adjust his attitude. Instead of taking the chance to smooth things over, he chose to escalate the situation even further. Without a word, he walked away from us and resumed whatever he was doing.
I called for his attention again, letting him know we hadn’t even placed our order yet. His response? He flat-out refused to serve us, claiming we were being rude to HIM! Yes, you read that right—after being dismissive, unprofessional, and outright hostile, he turned the situation around and refused service.
When we asked to speak with the manager, we were told that they weren’t in that day. So apparently, on Friday afternoon this establishment is left in the hands of an employee who clearly has no grasp of basic customer service or respect.
Needless to say, we left and won’t be returning. If you value being treated with basic decency, do yourself a favor and take your business elsewhere.
P.S. I usually post pictures of food and drinks, but the young gentleman had different plans for our dining experience. See the hero of the day’s picture attached instead. Interestingly, we discovered another coffee shop nearby called Hello Darling. Not only did we enjoy our Cortados and the great atmosphere, but we also got to try their...
Read moreIf I could give this place 0 stars, I would. First off, I’m visiting Denver so I don’t know how the locals like their lattes but I like mine darkish; not iced milk. My friend and I went to the other location of this cafe and the barista there didn’t tell us they were closing in 5 minutes. Anyway, he made a really milky latte that wasn’t to our taste. We figured we’d go to this location to work and ask for an extra shot of espresso since they’re sister shops.
The barista is super friendly to my friend, smiling laughing and even gives her a free shot of espresso on the house. Me, being in the same situation as my friend, go up and ask for an extra shot of espresso for my latte. The barista looks so unhappy and didn’t even greet me as their customer. I was fine with paying for an extra shot but he charges me 3.54 for an extra shot! Meanwhile, he gave my friend a free shot on the house. I pay 3.54 for an extra shot, he tells me to take the lid off of the cup, and he SPLASHES the hot espresso into my cup as I’m holding the cup without saying a word. Mind you, it’s hot and could have stained my clothes!
I was super nice and smiling, didn’t do anything wrong to receive this kind of treatment. You need to treat customers with kindness. Definitely won’t come back again. The barista was a tall-ish man, with a...
Read moreRight at Union Station, so extremely convenient. FRESH breakfast burritos, which most coffee shops around Denver lack.
When I first arrived in Denver, the prices at KL seemed crazy high. I stepped in, stepped out..... then came back a few weeks later, after adjusting to the price of local sandwiches. Been here lots since. Definitely worth it, great quality for price- especially breakfast items, which are very filling.
Nice use of space. Well organized for such a central location. Seats inside + outside, light streaming through glass on all sides. Always bustling with surprisingly quick + efficient service. Food's good, made right there.
Want the cooks to know how much I appreciate their work. I can't stand the prewrapped junk they serve at most other Denver coffee shops. The drinks are also good so I always get one to go with my meal, but I mainly come for the breakfast burrito.
Do wanna note they're card only (no cash). I took off one star for that (no offense intended)- on a rare occasion, I need to pay with cash, so go elsewhere...
