McGregor Square is a really cool place. I want to love it. But really, it's seems extremely difficult for the staff to be able to manage security and the bad behavior of some patrons.
We had an absolutely awful experience when we went to watch the Avs game on June 18. We had arrived at about 1:30 PM to hang out until the 6 PM game, because we wanted a great location. We secured our perfect table and umbrella location but by 5:30 the situation had really taken a turn.
We never expected to be crammed in like sardines, we thought that once capacity was reached people wouldn't be let in anymore. We thought there would be breathing room. We never expected drunken GenZ kids to be climbing on top of our table, or taking shots from their pockets (and they appeared to be underage by the way). The line for drinks took two and a half hours because people kept cutting and they were way over capacity in the first place. The line for the bathroom was two hours for the same exact reasons. There was just no order to any of it and I feel bad for the staff that had to attempt to manage the insanity.
The crowd was heavily very young, and a large portion of those young people were extremely badly behaved. Maybe it was the alcohol, maybe it was their generation, maybe it was mob mentality, but whatever the reason there was a huge amount of rude, inappropriate, hurtful, dangerous behavior that would've typically gotten you kicked out of a bar or restaurant and potentially gotten the cops called.
